@weedcali,
#1 nice dude, wobble sounds really well sculpted, is it out of a synth or resampled? levels sit mostly well for now. Hi hats are pretty chaotic, maybe throw a tight-ish gate followed by a short reverb to cut all the tail end of the release, and then make your own tail end. That trick works really well for me.
#2 beautiful storm noises and vinyl sound, i'm liking the atmosphere of this deeply. The strings are epic and sit perfect. I don't know what to tell you about this one, besides to sculpt and tighten up the ADSR and levels on your drums. I wouldn't have known it was a wip if you didn't say anything. Enjoyed thoroughly, but make it longer and more epic! Maybe could use a crazy breakcore section a la Szamar Madar by Venetian Snares.
@erebus-7
the pluck sample sounds a little bit out of place, but if you brought in some more eclectic feel instruments, it might not. Think worldly! Also indian percussion, vibraslaps, congas, bongos will make this track pop. Bass overpowers in a few spots, might want to tighten it up with a little compression (or adjust current compressor accordingly), but it's a really nice progression, good use of pads. Bring down the open hats @ 2:32 and other similar spots. Too loud!! Another idea is to layer your lead with a similar sound, that or bring in one of the leads for part a, other lead for part b, etc.
You asked us to be harder on you essentially so there it was. Fix your levels, tighten your compressors, bring down release on some of the instruments to add space.
@Bio,
#1 the nintendoey arp sounds WAY out of place. Too happy for such a robostepper tune. Get a darker arp going, or just use some big synth or bass slides, or even a voice sample or sfx.
#2 It bugs me when i notice albino fx presets, but i guess most people won't so that's ok. The killer wobble pattern you have going towards the end should be the intro to hook you quickly, but just a slightly more simplified version.
Sadly neither of these songs sound too memorable to me. Try to add some original sounds that really catch your ear to go WTF! Also original voice samples, or just something straight out of your favorite flick to give it an identity. (You could even just say "Escape" and "Entropy" into a mic right before the drops)
@Loud Flavor
#1 - I've heard this voice sample in a few tracks, i think. The grind pattern on the bass you got going is sick, but i'm thinking maybe it does the four note climb a bit too often, makes it less heavy hitting when it does hit. The bitcrushed parts you have are sculpted and shaped really well. Breakdown is nice, but i'm thinking i would like to hear a big rimshot in the breakdown instead of the snare, and save the snare for the second drop. The high pitched tones 2:25-2:51 gives it a really creepy and offsetting atmospheric which i'm digging heavily. Outro is like BLAOW BLAOW BLAOW BLAOW!! Would be pretty hard to mix, but i suppose i wouldn't need to even play it that far. Two thumbs up dude.
#2 That slightly detuned thing you have playing on it's own before the kick on the one is really ear-catching! When the beep synth comes in it fills all the right holes. I don't have any improvements to offer for this one to be honest, sounds creatively past the point of alteration. Send this shit to some labels already! (Wait! I lied! The beep conflicts a wee bit with the detuned sound in the breakdown just because they play at the same time. Not a huge issue, but it did bug me a bit.)
#3 Thats a pretty soaking wet bass there in the intro. Sounds like it's dripping dirt. Should these really be posted here homie? These are fucking hot and past the point of input pretty much i think. Voice samples are fucking epic, the little glitch edits are perfect. The stab bass line is fuckin fat. The sample&holdy bass during the breakdown is filthy. Gated slide synth near the end is so cool! Beautiful tracks, i feel like i just listened to an EP for rottun.
@Nebula,
Synths sound pretty full range atm, could use with some high and low roll-offs, take out any sound that doesn't need to be there. Liking the big squarey slide bass. Very fat.
Kick is possibly .5 - 1dB too loud. Hats could be filtered, maybe chorus to make them a little less "sharp-edged" sounding. Good filter work between 2:18 and 2:43 ish on your bass. The dripping sounds are really interesting, makes it feel like you're playing a video game where you're spelunking in a cave somewhere deep in the earth.
Might be a little too much reverb or release on your higher synths, try to add some space. The falling keys at the end of your pattern don't fit. Try to put them in the correct scale. Really Good work for first post, had me head bobbing!!
OK Here's my wip of the moment, been listening to a lot of 2004-2006 era dubs lately and they inspired this piece a good amount. Also it came together with only 45 minutes work so keep that in mind.
Feed me some back homies!
