Earlier this month, Fallout 3 voice actor Erik Todd Dellums began a new round of Fallout 4 speculation with a simple tweet. In an interview published this weekend, Dellums explained the context behind his tease.

"I let [Bethesda] know that fans were clamoring, trying to figure out if there's any chance that Three Dog would be back sometime," Dellums told Nukapedia in an audio interview. "And, you know, they let it slip that it looks like Three Dog will. And they said that, 'Well, maybe you could tell your fans.' I don't think they even anticipated it would explode like this."

Did you get the extra weapons & equipment when you started your game? think they come from the Couriers Stash add on pack.

Yeah I got a few guns and a load of clothes to begin with.

It's seriously moreish, I started relying on the autosaves but during a mission in the city I shot a civilian and all the sheriffs tried killing me and i couldn't finished a mission so jumped back to my last save which was ages ago

Sweet, Sturdy Caravan Shotgun, Leather Armour and Weathered 10mm/9mm (can't remember) pistol are good weapons early on.

That shotgun has been my main weapon, whats the deal with the assistants? Do I have to find them or will I bump into them by doing missions?

Also, that following robot is suspicious

You come across some of the assistants as you travel round following the main story arc to New Vegas itself;
[+] Spoiler
ED-E is broken in Primm and needs fixing with parts and/or a decent repair skill IIRC
Cass is at the Mojave outpost
Boone is in Novac
Veronica is at th 188 trading post
Rex is in the Kings hideout in New Vegas
The rest are found in other locations not linked directly to the main story;
[+] Spoiler
Raul is locked up in Black Mountain
Arcade Gannon is in the Mormon fort
Lily is in Jacobstown
If you're playing a sniper character I'd recommend
[+] Spoiler
Boone and ED-E is you want to destroy everything at range

You can avoid Cazadors for most of the story until you actually reach New Vegas...just stay away from the wind farm to the right of the highway on final approach, and don't take the 'other' exit out of Good Springs...which also leads to Deathclaws anyway.

Gauss gun is shit IMO...Ratslayer for smaller targets, Desert Sniper rifle for bigger targets & long range, That Gun (can be robbed from behind the counter in Novac gift shop) for close quarter fighting and head shots.
