Holding down 'ctrl' & 'alt' gives you the zoom tool so you hold the mouse button & draw a box around the area you want to zoom into. just click to the side of something to zoom back out.

!!!! logic keeps crashing on this specific project! when it's loading every sample and plugin (this hasn't ever happened before) , it stops at sugarbytes effectrix then the loading bar blinks..i'm almost positive this plugin is causing it to crash but i 'm really hesitant at uninstalling effectrix as i'm using it in another project and i lost the .dmg! any help would be oso appreciated.

anyway of recording the sound when you are cutting an audio region and scanning through it??? you can get some dope effects that way really quickly...

Use something like Audio Hijack (the demo version can record for up to 9 minutes per "hijack" before it gets wonky), or Soundflower.

This happened to me with nexus. I went into all other projects with nexus (that I could open), bounced the nexus stuff to audio. After that, I deleted nexus.
My plan was to reinstall it but I never did.

Not a good solution but at least it stopped crashing. :?

Or if I had a bass with a moving filter, and wanted a pad to change its HP simultaneously with the basses LP filter.

Obviously I know I could automate it all in, but it'd be nice in certain tracks to just have an eq already set to do it for me. Maybe all I need to do it a simple side chain with a compressor, but as far as I know, that only effects the dynamics, not the frequency. Is that correct?
I could be wrong (I'm not at my computer atm) but I thought there was something like in the stock compressor. But there should be an arrow at the bottom left corner of the plugin that reveals a few more parameters. If not, I think a simple work around would be just to split the frequencies.
OH FUCK! :o Thanks so much, dude.
I didn't notice that little arrow earlier, but I clicked it now and this popped up:

That mix slider is usefull as hell. Now you can just pop in some parallel compression quickly wherever I want. :corndance:

But can anyone explain the sidechain filter options? I think I might be a bit stupid but I don't get it.

Does anyone know if it's possible to sell my Logic licence on it's own if I bought it from the app store? Or would it mean selling my Apple ID?

Thanks

Okay seriously, wtf.
I just made this Hardcore/Gabber kick using ultrabeat (sine going down in pitch and then dist+fx).
It sounds sick but the last note keeps playing, even if its already ended in the piano roll.
Also if I stop the playback in the middle of a note, that keeps playing too even though I'm paused.

This is probably a Ultrabeat bug but I can't find anything about it anywhere and if it's been around for long they would have fix it, so I must be doing something wrong. Anyone?

Then it's probably your distortion. A lot of distortion adds delays and releases, not to mention distortion clips the fuck out of your signal so it brings up release and attacks anyway.

was an ableton user for years, just made the switch to logic

Ill probably have a bunch of Qs for this thread, but heres my first.

What is the most efficient way to audition and bring in audio files from my computer into Logic?

Ive been using the "Import Audio" tool, which works, but in ableton i could just scroll through the library in realtime without haveing to load up the samples, the folders were just there to navigate through and audition.

Any suggestions?

nevermind, think i found it, if I use a pencil tool on an audio region, it pops up my library and auditions the sounds as you scroll through them

You can also press B to get up your library and then drag the audio into the tracks.
Or you can go into Finder and drag samples into a track from there.

Tbh I really like the way logic handles audio

thanks for the tip

I think i like everything except the cursor/tools.... seems very tedious and unintuitive. In ableton using the cursor was really simple, the fact that i have a different cursor for different functions is really taking some getting used to

On Logic X:

how can I adjust the grid in the arrangement window so that I can see only 1/4, 1/8 notes, 1/16, 1/8 triplets, etc... like I just see the gridlines and the zooming tools adjustments as you zoom. Is there a way to set what gridlines you are seeing? I do drums in audio and this would make it much easier.
