well for starters they changed the name. maybe they changed some subtleties to the format. I dunno.

They did the same with The Voice, which is a dutch show that went to America and the UK after Xfactor and pop idol.

It does and all the time. We had a brilliant curb your enthusiasm clone on danish tv and Larry David apparantly condone it despite his obvious rights. It's probably in cases where there's trouble somehow establishing the show as a franchise technically.
