Why do people that used to have a drinking problem sometimes still refer to themselves as alcoholics? Is it because they are still constantly craving it?

Why is it only drinkers (that I know of)? I don't think you can say you have a drinking problem and not be an alcoholic, but an alcoholic might decide to not drink.

It's actually optimistic in a sence because society accept it as a condition, so they can seperate it from their being and just treat it like a condition.It seems a bit pessimistic to me
