love dub and reggae! i love reggae more than dub but i really love both. and i think dubstep is losin' the dub... i love that technoish dubstep, don't really like that filthy dubstep, but i generally miss the dub ina dubstep. Loefah gotta come back! Mala and Loefah are still the straight definition in sound of the word "dubstep" to me

dub > garage
dubstep comes from dub (take the beat, add a snare, use reverb/echo/flanger, bass-driven, etc, etc), funky/future garage/bassline may come from garage
stop trying to push this angle that 90s garage was the foundation of all modern music and we shall praise it as a Messiah of the musical genres. it was fun, it was enjoyable, but nowadays we have stuff that practically BURIED it.

no really though, i heard dub before dubstep but dubstep dragged me into listening to/enjoying more of it, really chill music. Love them skanks

I agree man... dubstep is losing it's dub, just like jungle became drum n boring.

I never realised the Dubstep Allstars compilations started at number 4.
