loads and loads of tea, maybe a few beers and the odd spliff.
tried to do tunes tripping before, just ended up pissing about and laughing for ages to be honest.
tried to do a tune on mdma. that failed, had some nice ideas but sounded like shit.
tried it on coke, works for a while, but you end up terrorizing your supply.
i could see speed working, especially as it keeps you up all night. wouldnt want to start habitually using it whilst making tunes, or i'd end up a nervous wreck.

I was drinking over the weekend, and that was the second weekend I tried to do anything while drunk. I've pretty much quit smoking weed (like once a month type shit)....so I usually stay sober with the beat-making.
Anybody smoked khat before?
