but I had serious problems getting into Visitor Q - the last Lynch movie Inland Empire was also way too difficult for me to deal with..
Inland Empire was awful I thought.

you have to be REALLY in the mood for inland empire.
there's some weird shit going on with that movie if you're willing to sit through it.
lost highway and mulholland are way better on the highly surreal tip.

I really like Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway, I just thought he was trying too hard with Inland Empire. It was almost like watching the thought process behind the film as opposed to the film, interesting in places but fell short of the mark for me.

you enter "lynch space" in his films especially those two...not so much his other works tbh
hes mucho fucked up...weird and kind of scary that he did that meditation with all those kids...
awesome movie with extraordinary music (I believe squarepusher did the music)

nothing is really scary, just weird stuff, and not everything is good, but it's definatly worth the try if you're looking for something special.

The booklet comes with interviews about how shitty the images are in the opinion of the production crew, due to lack of investement and therefor getting stuck with people who didn't draw at the necessary level of quality,
but there are some beautifull images in this one nonetheless, the construction of the movie is beyong what one would come up with and the characters, landscapes show an imagination world that one could only strive to have.
underrated essential,
if you look for it in a regular hmv store it's around 20 quid, but if you look for it on the internet you should be able to get it a bit cheaper.
however, I'd like to state that this is the dvd I paid the most for in my life.
because of the fact that you won't get this in much more countries than England, France and a few others, and because of the fact that this is in my eyes an essential movie.
Visitor Q by Takashi Miike is one of the strangest things i've ever seen in all my days, if you can get past the i n c e s t right at the start it's a really good fucking mental film, and as someone else mentioned the happiness of the Katakuris is brilliant, think night of the living dead meets the sound of music!
Lynch is an absolute master of obscure, i massively recommend getting yourself a copy of Twin Peaks (TV Series & Film) and watch it in the appropriate order:
Series 1 >> Fire walk with me (Film) >> Series 2
Eraserhead is properly fucked up too, but you already no that!

I watched a movie a while back called "Paprika"... very fucked up. its a surreal animated film about dreams and a machine that let people interact and play within the dream, something fucks up and shit gets over the top in weirdness. Be warned, it is an anime, so you have to be in the right mood to tolerate the odd japanese. If want weird thats the film to watch also, tits.
