i don't follow everything that's happening, i only noticed this because Kev posts the new records for each week on fora.
nothing against the guys btw, most of my records come from them.

i don't want to start a fight or whatever, just making a simple observation and the fact that people push me onto an opinion i didn't even share makes it a worthfull "question"
i'm not even sure if it's necessary that i post in this topic, you guys seem to have opinions and ideas on this one.

Not wanting to get too involved in this thread, I'd like to point out S.T. Holdings has been distributing dubstep for 6 years... Not exactly jumping on a bandwagon

Already for me there are the right amount of quality releases (just too many to reasonably afford without smoking less), and events.

On D&B producers and dubstep - as long as its not just for cash/fame this must surely result in some good tunes?

Damn right. They distribute Flatline Audio, my dnb label and my dubstep label, Dubline Audio. Those guys are great people. And one of the best Distro's in EDM.

I think keeping dubstep to yourself is what could kill it eventually. In my opinion its a good idea to expose any type of music you love to as many people as you can. Thats the best way it will progress and evolve. Producers from other genres can make dubstep using techniques that they learned over years dealing with other genres. The elitist attitude is what will kill any scene.

do you think the mostly negative attitude towards the d'n'b scene here is generated by the fact that a LOT of d'n'b heads hate on dubstep, OR, is it just the lack of a quality d'n'b scene over there? it's interesting because I think d'n'b parties (here, stateside) are generally really fresh and exciting - people aren't there to take pills and listen to fucking pendulum, they're there to hear the music and dance which is refreshing... the trance scene is where I see the most pill usage and asshats. not trying to hate on that genre either but it's my observation.

also I find it crazy funny that a few select dubstep heads insist that dubstep isn't like d'n'b at ALL... I'm like what? It's all fucking breaks at the end of the day innit? I do realize that a lot of ds has it's own vibe, hey it's why I'm all over the sound but I've heard plenty of the same exact production technique found in d'n'b on ds tunes, reese, amen, big sub bass, spaced out atmospheric, the whole dub influence in general? I realize I have an entirely different perspective because I'm not right in the dubstep epicenter but quality music is quality music no matter the genre. I'm proud to say that I still represent d'n'b... and I certainly have room on my plate for both genres. I just don't get the hating on either side really, the music is very similar if you ask me.

Does anyone remember uber House producer Todd Terry's soiree into drum n bass with his Revolutions album?

I wish there was forums around when that one was released.

Incidentally I quite like the album...a tad (or is that Todd ) simplistic, but some of it is funny in a good way.
