Ive only heard Burials first album and pre-release mixes of his second. his use of house vocal samples leaves me cold. but i respect. I dont really get the IDM thing. To me IDM is characterized by flashy intricate drum programming and noisy filtering. people influenced by autechre, aphex and square pusher. i havent listened to much autechre - i keep hearing stuff that bugs me so im afraid to buy any. but the other dudes have done soulful work. dubstep and IDM cross over nicely. for an obvious example, I would look to the planet Mu label for top notch IDM influenced dubstep.

Burial uses unique textures on his drums and broken beat 2-step grooves. which is cool. i appreciate he does his own thing. i dont listen to much dubstep anymore because the scene has gotten so formulaic. if i hear something new i dont get it. it sounds lame to me like bad exp techno from the 90s. on the other side there are a lot of new kids that have bought into cliche and have decided that the genre needs strict rules and as nephytes they are the ones to reinfoce the rules. its a classic.

Hmm... most of the vocal samples on the second album are snipped from American R&B tracks. Ray-Jay, Beyonce both on Archangel, for instance. Christina Aguilera, Aaliyah, lots of others, all over the record.

irrespective of hype you are talking out of your ass

and he gets better and better

what exactly is it that you feel is missing from his music?

it has unique production and space.....it has soul in a way no other dubstep does....it is more evocative as well...

it's not supposed to be a chevron action flash...it's deep and something to be pondered on...do you like kryptic minds?
This B word should just be banned on this forum, he's not even dubstep for starters. honestly, his music is just well, boring to be honest. I'm a hater yes, but a hater of boring music is aceptable!!!
I don't think you're a hater...you don't like burial...hatin is something different...

tbh though if you find it boring i'm surprised you like the original sound of dubstep man

do you like digital mystikz, loefah, pinch, horsepower, kode9 etc etc??

he's far from boring....what do you mean by boring?
the lack of an obvious bassline?
not aggro enough?

the way he weaves all these different sound sources together to be greater than the sum of their parts is frankly stunning...
Chyea

Yeah, I hear tons of Amon Tobin on it all the time. Ninja Tune material gets big love on Top Gear, whoever does the audio editing is a don.

let's get one thing straight shall we? something we can all agree on? burial is IDM. if you asked anyone in the street, he'd get tagged IDM.
Candle in The Wind is the best selling song of all time and a book of Mao Tse Tung quotations is the second-best selling book.

Now, please tell me about these public opinions you speak of...

I am retarded.

I agree they are both excellent, but reckon as a recommendation to someone whose tastes are dubstep, Anvil Vapre, the Tri Repatae bonus material is the best one. In fact I've bought the 12"s with Second Peng and Second Scout on becuase they mix into dubstep nicely, especially techno influence stuff. They're missing the bass of dubstep records but aside from that I reckon they could pass as dubstep tunes easily. What do you reckon?

You hated on Burial man, you don't do that here. That is one opinion you do not share, especially when your only arguement is that he is boring.
