This is the only reason I'd want to go to a boring ass football/soccer game.

We've got Lennon to possibly come back, Milner can play on the right I think, Walcott and Wright-Phillips and even Stevie G but no one has the drive and determination of Beckham. Greatest English player of our generation.

If Walcott comes up against any full back that can cope with pace (like Abidal) he's stuffed. What then? Wright-Phillips? The backup option Beckham provided us with was priceless imo. 1-0 down with 15 to go? Throw him on. Whip a couple in. Maybe get lucky with a free kick.

You could stick Milner there, but I think he'll alrady be delployed on the left (after Fab realises Stevie G will never stop going for wanders and ending up getting in Lampards way - Who I think should be dropped fro Carrick anyway...but that's a different story).

All in all, I think we're MAX Quarter Final hopefuls. No more. Unless we're lucky....or Rooney has an abolute stormer (which he probably won't, as he'll be done in by the time the WC comes about..).

well we will top our group, probs play serbia, then france in the quarters maybe or nigeria greece, or argentina if they are playing badly. France dont seem to bad though we could beat them at the moment. thats semis, where we will get smashed by brazil or holland most likely. :D

I'd put Gerrard on the right if push comes to pull. And Abidal won't play as he's 3rd choice left-back after Evra and possibly now CIssokho.

My first choice team would be:

Green

Johnson
Terry
Ferdinand
Cole

Lennon
Gerrard
Lampard
Joe Cole/Milner

Defoe/Crouch/Agbonlahor
Rooney

I used him just as an example of a left back who isn't phased by a pacey winger. Evra is the same. As is Cissokho.

I can't see why Evra hasn't been the French 1st choice left back up until now anyway. He's quite clearly better than old Eric.

I still think 2002 was our best chance, don't hold much hope for this year :(

I think we have got a good chance this year tbh.

And Evra is the best left back in the world

Just thought I'd bump this in time for the new season.

Pretty gutted about the Ozil transfer to Madrid (I thought he was going to us) and Man City buying left right and centre but optimistic about our chances for the title.
