I always make stuff using the GTG free synths as well

Softsynths, eh... it's hard to pick just one since there's so many radically different & powerful ones out there, even a ton of good freeware like the STS-26, Oatmeal, StringZ, Odisea. There's also a couple that I won't mention here because I don't want 'em getting discovered by all y'all...

As for commercial synth plugs; Predator & Albino are fucking beasts, Junglist is a simple oldie but goody (nice warmth to it), TAL Elek7ro, Synplant (although I have more fun playing with the GUI than success getting the sounds I want, sometimes)...

But in terms of hardware synths my first love is and will always be my mighty Juno 60 that I bought on the street for $35. I love this synth like it's related to me.




Also like my Korg Poly 800 a lot, too. This thing is like the eighties in a box - every other preset you hit you recognize from some old tune. Thing gets raw as fuck if you need it too as well.

Dood I'll tell you flat out, I don't understand Absynth. And I've never really had a desire to learn because I've never been intrigued by any of it's presets.

Its not a big job, its just a synth, filters, LFO's, Oscillators, Envelopes (64 breakpoint envelopes that can be time/tempo synced and applied to modulate any part of your sound, BOO YEAH!, THIS IS WHAT I LOVE). Anytime I'm trying figure out a new synth I just look at its architecture, the basic signal flow and how you modulate things. No need to read the Manuel cover to cover, just keep it close to reference every now and then.

True, buts its great for Dark Metallic FM Basses, Leads, Percussion, everything, one stop shop IMO

Glad to see Alchemy gettin some love on here. I still haven't got the feel for the multistage env on it, but once I get that down i will be set.

Damn, you got one on the street for $35 bucks? Damn...

I love my trusty Juno-106. It was my first synth, and I've kept it around all these years.

I've used Alchemy, Massive and twin2 for all the synth sounds on the track in my sig (Music).

Alchemy can be heard on it's own at 1:17 and 2:42 (or thereabouts)
