Meh, personally not enjoying the techno-ish feel to it. Only listened to bits of songs though and I'll give it a spin later today...

it's dubstep to me... odd

what about it makes it not dubstep to you?

140 bpm + sub = dubstep still right?

mainly the breakbeat and hardcore-esque samples.

dont worry mate im all for keeping dubstep an open genre etc etc, and tbh the comment was just a throwaway remark.
sorry if i offended you by challenging the variety and versatility dubstep is based on

i wouldn't say anyone was offended, in a thread full of throwaway comments, i though i had found an actual conversation

why would i think that? who would want to have a serious discussion about music on DSF?

alright sweet,
let the conversing commence.

i think with his latest album rusko has stepped in a different direction to the sound i would normally associate with the word dubstep and is creating a colourful, vibrant trashy electro niche all of his own. which is cool, but i wouldnt listen to it.

word? i feel like rusko has been listening to a lot of skwee lately and that influence is definitely felt, i would say that while this album may not be my perfect cup of tea, it's definitely a step in the right direction considering the last couple of years, imho. I love the fact that rusky babylon is experimenting again because in truth, the man is a fantastic producer and a really nice guy. no matter what direction he moves in, it's always got that rusko feel to it, he's got his own style and not a lot of producers in "regular dubstep" can say that these days, heehee

on a side note, i think moving to LA was a great idea for rusko, that town can fucking party like no other and i'll probably check him the next time i venture south

word. exactly, i can see the appeal in it without actually liking it much myself.
and yeah, atleast hes not stuck in a rut. tbh i think this album will push dubstep further into the mainstream, and i reckon it will get alot of play this summer.

ive never been to LA, but according to a documentary i watched today, that city is gonna get seriously fucked up by an earthquake :o .

that Hold On tune's not bad is it?

thing about rusko is he can have people saying "i wish he made more tunes like acton dread", people going mental to his noisy rinse out stuff and people like me wishing he'd make more garagey stuff like Hold On. that's the sign of a pretty fucking versatile producer really, isn't it?

agreed 200%

as the guy above, nothing wrong with some good fun party music. the hate is funny to me. of course nothing about it's going to be "next level" eyes down shit. he obviously loves what he does, and he does it well imo.

Yeah not really my thing, but a lot better than most of the boring tearout stuff.

Still, it's all a bit disposable.
