Totally different. The flaming lips and other high-profile alternative(or whatever) rock bands (death cab, modest mouse) have kept their sound because the mainstream has accepted it. Granted whether or not you like pendulum, their sound has changed significantly due to their crossover.

That's what gets me. Their sound did a full 180 degree turn as soon as they signed to a major label. I'm sure they don't mind the buckets of money being poured all over their doorstep, though.
