We buy software/hardware for the love of doing it in the same way someone who loves playing golf pays over a Grand for a decent set of clubs and a membership at a local course
couldn't say it better myself.
my sister ask me the other day, do i see all this music equipment i buy as an investment, and i said, "yes" she said "so why do you keep buying stuff if you have not made any money yet" i said, " i see it as an investment in my music, not a investment in money."
i don't do music for money or respect. i just do it because i enjoy it.

Probably minus £4000 or so in gear, a few more thousand I could have been spent doing overtime and extra days work.
And I've enjoyed every second of it

i was gonna say zero, but that wouldn't be true.
i got $50 to score a short film and about $12 from the sale of some ambient noise/chiptune cds.
so, $62

Nothing in terms of money.
Billions in terms of fun, love, expressing and enjoying my self.

I use my music for fire spinning performances and get paid probably anywhere from 50-600 dollars a gig... and get them at least once or twice a month, sometimes a lot more... but in a way it's more for the fire spinning than for the music... other than that I am giving everything I have out for free... it worked for Mochipet!

is this a regular penis mesuring thread?
If yes - i totally made 0$ of all the producing. i'm not proud of it, but i can liv with it, cause not everybody is born to make cash with his hobby.

80 quid for some bullshit remix of a football song. also engineered the vocals for said bullshit football song which i probably god about 4-500 quid for. also recorded a few band demos here and there plus bollocks singing over backing tracks. probably a couple of grand in total. not enough.
made fuck all from my own bits so far though.

15 Euro's.
A friend requested a beat so I've produced one, I wanted to sound professional so I charged him for it, he didn't made fuzz about it.

What more could you want than time well spent? Back massages and security... true, true. But it is time well spent.

Never made a penny from EDM.
I have sold a LOT of "beats" in the Amsterdam hip hop scene - I usually charge 10eu/beat. I've sold at least 100 over the past few years.
