you can get old moogs for fairly cheap if you just want a couple beefy osc.

mg-1, rogue, liberation .... check em

Did you see that in this thread?

and that sound in the video is basically a saw and square, + distortion, and slight envelope modulation on the pitch of the osc's...

the key is using your pitch wheel or assigning the mod wheel to pitch and playing those sweeps and swooshes in real time... or programming the midi pitch cc...

fun stuff can also be had by routing aftertouch to pitch parameters, and applying more pressure via the keys to raise or lower pitch... or again, minus a midi controller??? then program the channel pressure midi cc to achieve same result.

dude is a badman though. layers and layers of slight distortion!
Was just gonna post this: http://www.percussionlab.com/sets/verb/ ... ixtape_004 as an awesome example of this genre of music, and here you are. Mad props btw, this mix has me super inspired to make music :D

those go for at least 1000 p if i'm correct
thats a lot in my book

might not be a lot for that particular synth but its something i cant afford atm, dont even have a proper sound treated studio or anything, so thats most important now

I'm a noob...

what would you say gives "Ultra heat treated" that ridiculously PHAT sound (especially the first note/kick at beginning of every bar). Would you say its primarily distortion? compression? is it a saw waveform or something? ...?

...just looking to be pointed in the right direction, and I'm not too sure what I'm listening to. But me likey.

ok after fucking around for a couple minutes ive got something close to the stab on the 1 from ultra heat treated.
used sylenth.
1 saw -1 octave
1 triangle -1 octave, increased the phase quite a bit and slightly detuned
1 square -1 octave, increase both the phase and detune a little bit.
ran the saw and triangle thru a lpf and took off a tiny bit of the top end.

its not 100% the same but its really really close. give her a shot, hope that halps

ok after a little refining - change the square to a triangle and also add a sine -2 octaves. little touch of internal distortion on the synth and voila

HAHAHA, you've got the minotaur down. I'm looking at these waveforms... this is kind of a fun, EXTREMELY dorky exercise.
