I really don't understand some people's impulses to twist people's words into totally irrelevant context just for the sake of an internet argument.

either way though, whatever commercialized US producers want to take their influences from underground music, there's nothin you can do to prove or disprove where they get their ideas from. whats really important i think is that even though all the people in that audience maybe got a small taste of dubstep, most of them will never experience the greatness of a FWD party blowing up plastic people, or DMZ at mass. they will never experience the best, as everyone here has. that's something that the big commercial guys can never take and thats what matters to me. in london its real, its fresh and its raw. its people makin a sound that they know is good, not one thats developed for the masses.

Innovative production is always good thing... throwing more ingredients into the melting pot that is popular music.

But MAYBE people wish he was more humble / thanked people / whatever. So it's a social faux pas, not a musical one.

And I for one couldn't care less about what musicians SAY in their free time. It's all about the output.

exactly . it's just a beat. it's not even half-step. what makes it half step? it's just a tempo. tempos can be slowed down or sped up and all of a sudden the genre just changes? stop thinking in terms of genres, and who did things "first' BECAUSE WHO CARES ? why cant we just say it's all about beats and vibes and not label it this or that . everyone influences everyone

and for the sake of clarity when i said the half-step sound was reminiscent of uk underground music i was not saying that i think dubstep is about half-step

nobody can deny the fact that when dubstep blew up, the predominant sound was the half-step and that the most common element americans got from it was that slow ass beat

All I can say is that "supa dupa fly" was recorded in about 1996 - there are beats on there and on everything else he has produced that roll just like dubstep.

I am sad about his attitude towards the finnish computer game thing but you can't knock timbalands skills really ...

It is blatantly clear that quite a few of you are totally retarded.

Firstly, Timbaland is a merker. I very much doubt he even knows dubstep exists let alone feels the need to bite it.

Secondly, the whole concept of plagiarism in Hip-Hop is hysterical! There would be no Hip-Hop without plagiarism!

I saw man on here going mental over that 'Light up your spliff' dub (sorry don't know who did it), about how its the best thing since sliced bread (it was aaiight). That is blatant plagiarism of an old Bush Chemists joint from donkeys years ago, if you dont believe me I shall post up the track. Did'nt bother me though get me?

lol jokes thread, i was listening to some gatecrasher digital chill out album from wot seems to be quite a few years ago and what did i hear? a track that sounded exactly like a dubstep track except the melody was not so dark, the question is though, who really cares?
