I read the same one, maybe the selection they put in it was partly to do with our less than brilliant response.

@HRKRT: Yes, Perdido St Station was the first Mieville book I read. It was different from anything out there from the very first page. The books in that setting are all a very clever mix of sci-fi and fantasy. His style of writing is very atmospheric. I do love his writing, although I find that the last sections of his books tend to be hazier. Especially Iron Council.

Has anyone read King Rat? It talks quite a lot about DnB in the 90s, I've always wondered whether anyone thought it was an accurate portrayal.

Need to get round to reading Un Lun Dun. Looking for Jake is also supposed to be very good, but I'm less keen on short stories.

Why? Loads of people have heard of Burial by now. And if he was into DnB he might have gravitated towards dubstep as well. He might even post here! :o

I only hope he hasn't mistaken Dubluke for Burial

another one for Philip K Dick, was a true visionary. the movie adaptations never do him justice, apart from A Scanner Darkly maybe.

There's a lot here to take in.

Just so people know. I was considering picking up some Philip K. Dick before starting this thread. Loads of guys have said it's all good. So something from him will be first pick.

Because Un Lun Dun was well eerie. Like a book version of Untrue. Can't explain it. OMG. What if they're the same person.

YESSSS

I mean just the fact that his supposed identity is known and that's still all we have from him is suspicious. Why haven't any people said "Oh, I know that guy, he lives in my apartment". That picture is probably just some random dude from Bulgaria or something and the name is fake
