does anyone know how you can go about reporting/ getting an entire website taken down? There is one site someone just posted on FB that is just for drum and bass and dubstep filesharing, you preview the (mostly freshly released tracks) and then can download it in it's original quality...
Im literally shocked that websites like this can operate so blatantly, surely there are regulations about this kind of thing? Its not like it's mediafire or something that has legitimate uses either, just straight theft

That really sucks, well kinda goes back to me learning as a kid.... don't trust anybody, because unless they've been your best dog for years, anyone could really stab you in the back. (sometimes without even they're knowledge because of how they're file settings are set up) *if I can remember correctly?*

there is nothing illegal in most countries about posting just links as they aren't actually hosting the files. it's how torrent sites operate as they actually host no files.
it would be like the us government coming after someone for posting a link to wikileaks.

that and the countries where it is illegal often times require court orders.... which require lawyers.... which require money.... which indie labels generally aren't swimming in
thats the big giant loophole you need money to insure people aren't stealing your material so you can in turn make money

i think i remember bmt mentioning on doa a service you can pay that tracks down fileshares release by release basis and gets em taken down
once again a service that costs money

Yeah I've worked for a label whose distro used one of those services. Widely effective if you have the cash to pony it up.
Got over 140 youtube videos taken down in around a week. Crazy stuff.
But like you said required money

yea which unfortunately on the smaller label scale isn't cost effective
