yeah ive been quickly getting my hands on all of their releases. the rhythmically complex but harmonically minimal dubstep sound works really well when its blended (in key) with a lot of the ambient, arpeggiated indie synth music that is coming out (eg oneohtrix point never, emeralds, back to comm etc.)
mashing the two together is becoming my new thing. i'll post a mix on here soon to show you what i mean.

Baobinga is killing it, but he doesn't get as much hype as some other producers in the same style

very true. thanks you guys. you have helped make me a better DJ, for real.
Just as a "thank you" to everyone who has posted on this thread, here's a little mix i recorded live last night (no edits or anything). It's just the Aux out from my mixer while i was DJing at a little bar in Milwaukee called the Redroom
I know its pretty quiet, I had the gain pretty low to give myself some headroom, so that i could mix a bit more dynamically. If i have time, I'll do a little "mastering" and get the mix a little hotter. there are also a few blips because my right deck has a touchy output.
In case anyone was interested, I was using serato going into a rane ttm-56 with a boss dd-20 delay pedal providing some extra ambience and loops.
there are some originals in here as well as some obscure ambient music that you might not be familiar with.

Damn, your taste in music is like...godly. Do you ever play dj-sets in Europe?
aw, thanks dude. no, unfortunately i've never been to europe. i'm just living in my hometown for the time being (Milwaukee) tearing up the DJ scene here. I worked in NYC for a while, but the studio i was working at over there shut down. It's a shame, i feel like most people over here dont know good shit when they hear it, but ill keep playing it anyway. at least im getting paid. I want to move either back to NYC or LA eventually and get back into the recording business, but until then, I'm gonna keep saving up money, make dope tunes, and DJ my ass off. I would love to tour someday, but id need quite a few more fans to start making my living that way.
Did you check out my playlist from my gig last wednesday? I did 4 hours of dubstep/ambient/2-step for like 10 people lol.
That's a shame. I'll definitly listen to your playlist from that gig though. I too live in place where people arent' very familiar with dubstep, but it's slowly getting more and more airplay on the radio (mostly remixes and Magnetic Man's new stuff, but still..it's a start.) Let's hope people soon realize how much great music there is to find within the genre.[/quote]
check out the above post for the mix. probably will have another one tonight as well.
cheers!

anyone on this thread heard of teebs? he might be one of my new favorite producers out there. hes got a new record coming out on brainfeeder in october. flylo says his music "sounds like the way Avatar looks" (trust me its a good thing)
also, check out Tokimonsta. shes another brainfeeder artist. both are super chill and mix well with a lot of the music on this thread.
for ambient stuff to mix around with some of this dubstep, id check out oneohtrix point never, emeralds, tim hecker, and black to comm. if anyone has music in that vein, please please list it on this thread.
