That would probably be a bad thing because his new unproven successor will need to show he has an iron fist.
Maybe that is what is happening, it might be that he has to be shown to be able to lead his country to the death in pursuit of victory, but that is speculation.

I don't think China will publicly put down NK because that wouldn't help their relations. East Asians don't tend to publicly show up their allies or people in their circle, what's more likely is that China won't say anything to anyone else but NK or try and work in group talks like the previous 6-party conferences. Ka-ching, news just in:http://en.rian.ru/world/20101123/161459166.html
Apparently NK has also got enrichment going back on, it might be trying to sue for aid in return for pacificity...

Pointless beef should be kept to the grime scene.

Just been watching sky news, they spent 15 mins announcing the royal wedding date before coverage of this.

i'd hardly call division of a country since world war 2 with a heavily militarized border at the 38th parallel "pointless beef"

Same as me. I've been watching bbc news for a few hours. All they keep going on about is the royal wedding. WHO FUCKING CARES? If this kicks off there wont be a wedding...

the world doesn't work like that
strategic military locations, international markets and resources, etc
hell nuclear fallout...
there are plenty of factors that even if we did just let "two countries go at it like animals" would have implications on the rest of the world
