Midrange doesn't always equal Brostep and the genre of dubstep is a lot more complicated than people make it out to be these days. Your not either Mala or Datsik, there's loads of stuff in between and shitloads off to the sides as well. Joker for one, clearly isn't bro OR deep, Eskmo anyone? hell even magnetic man can't really fit into either of those categories, they've managed to mix a perfect blend of pop melodies and dubstep atmosphere. The first person to call it 'popstep' gets a punch in the overies though.

To me brostep would be the dubstep that seems to think it always always has to be kick on the first beat, snare on the third, and some 'filthy' wobble.
With the snare having quite a bit of low end.
And most of the followers originate from dodgy jump up drum and bass raves, expecting there hit of speed.
Just my opinion though, but I feel the music categorized into that has took something special away from the space that dubstep had and filled it with nasty noise.

In my opinion the first ever brostep track was cockney thug and that was a FUCKING TUNE. Nobody can deny that XD still sounds sick today.

For me Bro-step is the more "generic" side of dubstep.
For instance, Cockney thug is a classic bit of Bro-step and I like that song, as well as other bro-step ones. But it's had a bit of over-kill some would argue with the likes of Mt Eden, who basically do the same method on their songs.
1. Kick, first beat - Snare (w/reverb), third.
2. Nice sample.
3. Wobble.
4. Repeat the above.
And I'd say fans of bro-step are the pretentious student hipster types high on MDMA in raves. Basically idiots.
But like all music, good bro-step is good, bad bro-step is bad.

This is all news to me. I guess I like brostep, but I agree fuckin homo name.
Urban Dictionary says this about it:
Brostep is a relatively new sub-genre of music (born out of Dubstep micro-genre) which has no emphasis on soul.
The goal appears to be to produce music as fast as you possibly can, without placing any emphasis on quality.
Unlike Dubstep where sub bass is key, Brostep places more emphasis on ratty high frequency samples and oscillators that arent even low frequency. Toss in a few hip hop vocal samples and you are well on your way to being the worlds next big Brostep producer.
Brostepper - Man, I cant wait to see Rusko & 6blocc.
Dubstepper - Man, I cant wait to see Mala & Kode 9.
