Nice one.
I'm doing my first year now and the massive amounts of maths depresses me.
it gets worse, too. i remember i hit a wall my second year in my mathematical methods class
i'm putting off graduate school by a year or so, hopefully find a job working in radiation therapy in the mean time.

Applied for Leeds Met, Manchester Met and Newcastle College.
Really want to go to Leeds as im nearby and the scene is so good. Ive only recieved an offer from manc so far but im sure i'll get one from leeds soon.
Has anyone had any experience of Events Management as a course? Also any more opinions on Leeds Met would be good

The main Surrey campus is amazing. You'll have months of fun there.
Btw, Cosmic's advice is the best advice I've read on here in regards to
Uni. Work first, party later.
you applyin or already there?
i agree the campus is somethin else.
Interview here on the 9th...tonmeister course yeah?!
Dubstep's very own Kulture is a tonmeister graduate. He's pretty damn sexy.

In the third year I don't have anymore maths, still have alot next year..
And physics is going to get harder too.
No regrets though, even though I've thought a lot about switching to compusci or philosophy.

Cancelled my 'undergrad' in media & communication a few weeks ago. Was looking at a few courses (music etc.) at London Met and
Leeds Met.
I noticed the 'hall' appartments are all insanly expensive though... 120 quid p/w for tiny rooms 30 minutes away from the faculty geez.
A 14m2 room in downtown Amsterdam is around 380 a month. Guess I'll stick to the uni options around here

Sorry, but a degree in events management sounds like a waste of time and money. Are there many career opportunities in this field, graduate jobs?
Sounds a bit Mickey Mouse to me.
I don't think Michael Eavis has a degree in events management.

yeah this
proper proper shit, also they've merged with university of bradford, so you are now getting a university of bradford degree, as opposed to the "highly looked upon" degree you would have got from lcm
everything they teach you is the most obvious shit in the world, except for the mixing desks/patch bays/etc
but there's basically no fucking tuition for that!
also if you know your music theory and are good at composing you'll feel like you're completely wasting your time, as that is what about 60% of the first year and second year modules are made up of
i remember getting excited about going on to second year because we got to do electronic music modules, first lecture was some rock lover telling us how little he knew about electronic music and how much he disliked it, then after listening to him talking about muse for ten minutes, my mate says that he doesn't feel like he's learning much about electronic music
lecturer then put on a 5 minute clip of audio made up of ten second snippets of the most bait commercial ibiza dance music, zombie nation et al
say no more

Haha, I know I know it's best in europe etc etc etc, but I had a look at the leeds college of music course and that felt like the right place/course for me...even over the surrey one...was more about using the studio as an instrument rather than using it as a tool which is what I felt from surrey?

Send a DM to Hackman he's doing BA in Music Production i think!
Should look at Bath Spa for creative music tech really

Ah Hackman is who they were referring toooo!! They mentioned rusko (obviously) and a guy in the second year of production course. I'll DM him...
It wasnt just the course idea that appealed to me but the whole place felt like a big community and all the warm cuddly shit like that and leeds is pretty cool lol.
haha as if they mention me
airhead went there too, was year above me

Got in to the US Merchant Marine Academy, and am waiting to hear back from US Coast Guard Academy, though I'm highly partial to the idea of going to a service academy, and then not having an actual military service commitment once I get out!(via the US merchant Marine Academy)

Ditto, shoot us any Q's if you're coming Leeds too!
Piece of advice though, if you're living in student accomodation you are definitely, definitely going to be amidst wasters who don't do any work. Don't let them bring you down - they're idiots. As time goes on people realise more and more that they're going nowhere, and they start looking like parodies of themselves who no one takes seriously. Uni can be a make or break endeavour. There's so many opportunities there which, if you work your nackers off, will put you in good steed to begin a fulfilling life. Heard so many people telling first years "you only need 40 to pass and it doesn't count towards your degree, just get pissed and work next year" and a surprising amount of people are naive enough to take the advice.
But you'll be kicking yourself in 2nd and 3rd year when they're using technical terms in common parlance which were explained in first year, and which everyone who actually turned up knows like the back of their hand. They won't be getting explained again, and it's often an uphill climb to learn the ins and outs of them without proper teaching (if anyone's doing philosophy, try getting through second year epistemology after hardly turning up for logic in first year - you'll eat your own head). Put simply, taking that shitty advice will make your last years more difficult and they're already pretty damned challenging if you wanna do well.
Get your shit done first, then party. The formula of champions.
