who? why?

people who don't like glowsticks are sheltered? i liked em in the early 90's when i was a teenager and ate a bunch of ecstasy, so i can feel for these younguns...

long as they aren't gurning at me or hitting my girl with their twirling sticks of lights its all good, i just want to dance

i see glowsticks all the time. not at every event, but i go to all kinds of events at all kinds of venues and there's frequently glowing things present. it's the rave scene.

maybe if you started doing it in the 90s it seems less weird to see kids doin' their thang

Trance, hardcore etc I can see it, but waving a glow stick to Coki or jakes or someone.. just don't get it.

:z:

Glowsticks can be tons of fun, but seeing someone twirling a glowstick at an Autechre gig that is deliberately pitch-black just ruins the vibe.

this is what it always looks like at american "dubstep shows" always looks cheesy as fuck and they try an glamorize everything.
You can't even see anything, other than N-Type? And what makes it cheesy as fuck; the fact that theres lights and sheets up in the back? :-?

@chris: it does have to do with the 90's. There wasn't purist shows as much as there is now. In the 90's you went to a party and heard various types of music and you danced to all of it. I'm sure there are dubstep fans on this forum who have never been to anything but clubstep shows and seemingly think they're the most cultured thing on the planet. Back then there was a certain 'live and let live' vibe that governed over the entire scene.

Anywho: Film week is gonna be fantastic, music lineup is one of the strongest I can remember. Hip Hop lineup this year is bananas. WuTang at (of all places) AMH, barcelona on point again, gonna be a great year.

dont get why that matters, like bringing a cricket bat to a football match

except there are rules to football, and there should be no rules to having a good time

its just to do with growing up in different scenes... lotta nights here if you turn up with fairy wings on, gurning and twizzling glowsticks you probably wont get stomped on but you'll definitely ruin the vibe for some people, whatever that vibe may be.

some people like it, some people dont, here its not standard practice for 90% of the places i go and the occasional times it is, is where its a 'typical student crowd' though i HATE that generalisation. closer to the actual truth is its a much more wide ranging crowd that the local 'scene' heads dont want to acknowledge come from their own town, so decide they're students.

normally a big venue, big A-list dj's, big promotion, big money.

unless you go to a psytrance night or Tangled at the Phoenix (any manc heads may know that one) where i used to go when i was 16, gurning, twizzling glowsticks (thankfully no fairy wings).

either way stop bitching at each other, you all sound so determined to one up each other it stinks.

nearly everywhere has good events.

y'all don't even have burners out there do you. glowstick hula hoops aren't a fire hazard at least.
