for this i just made a reese in z3ta, added some distortion and a flanger, and automated a filter. don't overdo it with effects or you can lose power easily, everyone says to pile on the effects. also use small wet levels of the effects , not a shitton of distortion at once but a little bit more with each distortion unit if you get what im saying.
I've been listening to your songs for quite a while now. And i 'm impressed :d. Any chance of giving away a patch for z3ta?
had to rise this back from the dead but if anyone has reaktor, get an end called menace. and another called dragon. they can be found on the dogs on acid's. the grid but when I get back from school I'll up the links and make a small tutorial on one of the baselines I made with menace. I also found out ny experimenting that instead of using an actual filter and using your eq for notches and automating it can give you some crazy sounds. also lately (I'm using logics autofilter) but add a lowpass 6 and you can get some crazy growl if automated right

I would add a comb filter at the very end after you bound down your final Reese since having a comb filter sweep with all your filters just sounds amazing. if your on reason just make Thor a signal processor and use the filters like comb and highness to give it a crunchy feel and if your on a daw that supports vat and such get either the wow filter or bi filter ( haven't tried the bi filter but after seeing a lot of good things for it and many people speaking highly of it, it's worth a try )

Mannyyyyy wrote:ive been starting to make these types of basslines for about 2 weeks and mostly automate the filters and automate wavetables. I use ohmicide to get the distortion and also use a lot of modulating effects like a phaser and flanger and if you have another filter like a wow filter use it and automate the cutoff. its really all about the effects change that gives it the moving effect
all ive found recently is resampling is the key, just processed that reason file more in reason then bounced it to logic processed it more and i came out with this http://www.mediafire.com/?qj9h5dgx19fiyyw the resampling needs to go on and on to get the real neuro sound mainly using different filters

How do you get your bassline to sound so hollow and full at the same time?

have anyone ever had that they can make a super fat reece but there filter modulations are a problem and making reeses sound interesting with a Dubstep tune or dnb tune. whenever I try to make stuff it just sounds boring and cheesy. any tips?

more often than not less is more
none of the used sounds are mindblowing, but the tune certainly is.
more practical advice:
if you have guitar rig try out the pro-filter, morphable filter types ftw. traktor's gater is nice too. combine those 2 with an already moving reese sample, then distort and compress for ultrafunky timbre-changing madness.
and in general don't overdo the notches. i dont get why some people use several moving notches if you could just use a phaser...
and lastly, if your shit was boring and cheesy why are you signed then?

Can some one upload menace and dragon? I can't find a download and the NI site won't let me log in.

In the track in my sig, I use a neurofunk style bassline stab in order to create a rather evil-sounding growl that fills out the tune. Was rather simple compared with most tutorials. Keep points to remember:
1. Simple reese patch. I used z3ta+ 2 with 6 oscillators and just detuned them all significantly. This in itself gave it lots of movement and some natural "distortion" due to all the phasing.
2. Distortion. Stack this on, but do it in small amounts each time but get the distortion right. The wrong algorithm/setup will create a shitty sounding waveform. Don't add more distortion until you're happy with the result. Distorting the low end can have some rather nice results
3. Notch filter. Always do this AFTER distortion.
4. Chorus/reverb.etc.
If you want more info, I can go in detail - just add me on aim: pHybian.
Remember that this comes from experimentation. I never would have figured out if someone didn't tell me my previous attempt sucked
