The only precursor I seem to have to a successful session is a minimum of half hour listening to various genres beforehand.

Food, drink, alone and something happening to me emotionally so I can actually make some good music for once.

I can produce anywhere as long as I don't have too much noise going on around me that I wouldn't be able to hear what I am trying to make. Other than that I'm good anywhere
