ive known a dozen or so american soldiers and they all seem to have extreme contempt for foreigners, especially middle easterners. This attitude is pretty much rampant through conservative (the majority of) america.

While back home, our civilian young men aren't protesting the war and preaching peace like they did in the hippy era. Instead, they are racking up their 100,000th kill on Call of Duty then watching UFC.

in the first world there isn't a rite of passage into manhood for a boy... so they resort to drinking, drugs, violence, sex with as many girls as possible, etc. and it's all supported by the mainstream media and video games marketed towards that demographic. the world wants you to live a certain way, a way that is poisonous to your mind and spirit, and presents it as reality. like, "well, that's just the way things are."

probably the main reason is media culture/propaganda and the political environment in the states. this book that just came out called Back to Our Future talks about how similar the 1980s are to the present day. When the economy was bad in the late 70s a lot of the 60s hippies forgot all the positive sociopolitical change and only remembered the chaos. So they elected Ronald Reagan to save them, who basically started the modern political culture we have today. He also is responsible for deregulating media industry so heavily that every popular news outlet is essentially the corporate hegemony we have today. And we are led to believe that Fox News and MSNBC are polar opposites while they are both only voices for the elite.

Think the first thing they do is destroy the family so the children don't have effective parenting. Then the kids are wide open to media programing. These people are programed to be the way they are. Again you have to look upstream to find the evil. These pitbull humans that they turn out, honestly, can't be blamed. I mean they can, and hopefully they will, but hopefully people will see that they are a tool used by these very dark forces to achieve very dark ends.

Making it socially acceptable for women to bring up kids on their own may or may not be a big part of the problem we have today.

agreed. i mean you've got top rated television shows like 2-1/2 men, new christine, that one show with the two gays (not being homophobic, just saying it's another situation without a mom and a dad) who adopt... basically making it seem normal or even preferable for a child to not be raised by a mom and a dad. and then there's shows about teen moms... which basically say "yeah life's kinda hard if you get pregnant when you're 15, but it'll all be okay... so just go ahead and have sex anyway"

"media" (i use this term loosely as it's generally commentators who spew hate speech veiled as news) and mainstream western religion (christianity) are extremely responsible for the anti-islamic/"brown foreigner" sentiments with no justification (and for some reason seem to be becoming more and more socially acceptable) and brainwashing these already feeble minded people. that and long tours of duty overseas along side stop losses (meaning your initial contract you signed up for with the military is up, but you get extended and redeployed) don't help ones mental state either.
i did a tour damn near a year in iraq and was at wits end basically thinking i was never going to go home towards the end since it was day in day out the same shit with no end or break in sight. there is no justification for what those troops did, but then again the requirements for infantry are low as hell and they're trained to be bloodthirsty and indifferent (what else can you be trained for to be the guys rushing in first on the front lines?) all sides in war are guilty of shit like this, you have the public beheading of the contractors and captured soldiers on the other side. war is anything but pretty, and unfortunately positive stories about progress are seldom covered as they don't bring ratings like violence and chaos.
