To anyone who said that making pads is easy...you're wrong. I'm sorry but you just are.
It all depends on where your mindset it.
I always consider my pads to be one of the most important elements to glue everything together.
So I tend to spend a lot of time on the pads.
It has become a lot easier to create them because of time spent understanding them.

Right so just going to show my naivety here... how can I resample pads? So say I make a patch in Massive, what do I do? Or if I just get a sound and want to sample it, like someone was saying earlier with the sound of a jet or a sound from a record, what do I do? Just put it in my sampler and edit it or can I load it into an NI synth and feed it through oscillators and mess with it like that?

oscillators produce sound. they don't process sound. I believe most NI synths are employable as inserts to utilize their effects and filters.
but yeah. just load any sound into whatever sampler and work with it from there

To resample pads (or leads, basslines, SFX, or anything else coming out of your synth) bounce the synth line to audio and load the audio into the sampler.
I could only explain how to do this with MOTU performer, not ableton, logic, fruity, reaper, or whatever the hell else, so sorry about that.
If you happen to be running performer (hah yea right) i'd be happy to get more detailed about how to route your shit.
