Are you kidding? If anything, people hype and big each other up aimlessly far too much on this forum. Four pages of "yeah, heavy tune" and nothing else is about as pointless as four pages of "this tune is shit" and nothing else.

Constructive debates and criticisms like this thread is just what this forum (and countless other music forums) needs.

not so much that...it's more that it's all a bit pointless.

there are loads of wicked tunes being made and released, you just have to find them.

I am 100% satisfied with the sound at the moment, when i get bored of halfstep i stick on some Mala/Shonky type beats, when I get bored of reggae samples i stick on the dark shit, when I get bored of the dark shit I listen to the breaksy shit when I get bored of the breaksy shit ,I listen to the glitchy shit (Skream and other people) and when I can't listen to that anymore I put on the ambient type, (Reso, Scuba) so all you moaners shut yer cake holes!

People tell me my tracks are too electro! My new tracks are all done with humming, sea shells and stomping my feet.

No I didn't.

For me, personal taste is everything. I don't put out tunes cos I think they will sell, I put them out because I like them.

The point I was reacting to was someone saying someone had made a 4/4 tune and it didn't get picked up, but everyone loves Mala's 4/4. They don't love it because it's 4/4, they love it because it's good.
how it should be!!!

to many money grabbing copy cats in music

more releases from labels who enjoy the music they release

some of it is so borning, its like i should be urinating my pants in an old peoples home.
Some of the halfstep's pushing 145-150 but it's still really 72.5-75 in most cases. Still sounds fucking slow and has turned quite a few mates of mine off the sound as the pulse is too slow for anything but swaying. Not all tracks but too many for my liking

What started out as an interesting deviation becomes a tired formula very quickly

I'd like to hear these tunes.
Ramadanman, Jack Sparrow, TRG, Forensix, Parson, Sully Shanks - admittedly some of these are now getting pressed but they're all doing their own thing and bringing in new elements. I'd say they all hit the musicality/production level required.

Loetech, Bowser, and DZ are all doing big tings up north too. Coming with a huge variety of sound, and constantly improving the production values in each tune.

Shonky, you yourself are definitely in that group that are starting to fully come into their own.

just seems to me, that only a few days ago people were startin threads about how drum n bass is dead becuase the formula is tired out.

now we got the same thread but about dubstep instead?

for fuck sake. if people are getting sick of half step or whatever, then dont buy it! theres plenty more stuff out there. the scene is no where near stagnant. it just seems that theres this constant circle jerk of people griping about minor things. and its so boring it really is.

''so and so just keeps releasing tunes that sound the same''

''half step is boring'' ''its all too dubby'' ''that guy used a preset''

''everyones jumping on bandwagons'' ''not enough 2step''

''i think your point is irrelevant to my point''

''is this the end of dubstep?'' ''which came first? the dub or the step?''

ENOUGH.

why is it when i listen to mixes on here, or radio shows on here, i hear a constant flow of new tunes? different styles? i'll tell you why, cos its fresh as fuck.
do i feel the need to disect every little last piece of music and categorise and pigeon hole it? do i feel the need to worry on behalf of the future of dubstep? no i flipping well do not.

the only thing i feel thats good about this thread is that hopefully, it'll give a load of newbies the limelight they need and deserve.

but the wank thing about this thread is that the people who are already out there, making tunes, putting on nights, pressing records, just makes them look like theyre shit, boring, and hammering out any old stale crap. and thats just not the case.

:?

Could someone point me to the threads where people are saying that dubstep is stagnant, dying etc.? I honestly haven't seen anything like that here...

Also, certain people need to stop throwing all their toys out of the pram just cos someone criticises their favourite tune, artist or type of music. It's not a given that people will always be as experimental-minded and versatile as dubstep producers are right now, and sure as hell not if people do not analyze the music they make and respond with constructive criticism accordingly.

posting on a forum will not change your perceived problem with dubstep atm. if you don't like whats happening then maybe become a DJ and push your sound through mixes....become a producer and make tracks you want to hear, become a promoter and put on a night with people you think should be booked etc etc.....actions speak louder than words
