Why so few? Why is world history and evolution not stories of progress but rather this endless and futile addition of zeroes. No greater values have developed. Hell, the Greeks 3,000 years ago were just as advanced as we are. So what are these barriers that keep people from reaching anywhere near their real potential? The answer to that can be found in another question, and that’s this: Which is the most universal human characteristic – fear or laziness?
I haven't watched the video yet because this post is inspiring enough as it is.

Slacker is classic, I would really like to see that one again.

Saw Waking Life once, but was distracted by a girl. I should check it again.

I'm glad you all have enjoyed the film so far! I still haven't checked out Slacker, I'm going to have to find it.

A tune that samples Waking Life? That's fucking genius!

thats my favorite quote from the movie too. would say its much more depressing than inspiring. but if you look at the civil rights movement, end of slavery, womens rights, labor movement, gay rights, i think its hard to say that no greater values have developed. also it is a testament to how almost all of us are average, but if we pool together our efforts real social change can be made.

if you take it too literally, the dialogue from that scene seems to reinforce the notion behind the film Idiocracy, where there is an apparent trend towards devolution and idiocy due to mismanaged genetic trajectory. but when you figure out how to see the universe for what it is, as an infinitely expansive development, meaning that it is a process with the inherent function of advancement, it will make more sense. yeah i'm too drunk to expoumd and you're lucky you got that much
