there are a big cinematic feeling in dubstep tunes, specially from dark movies with solid vocals, dubstep+cinema is a holy pack. i will rest in peace when someone sample fear and loathing in las vegas, stoned and heavy.big
i sampled fear and loathing for a dnb tune once

"i have distinguished 4... 4 distinct states of being in the cannabis or marijuana society: cool, hip, groovy, and square."

someone help me with this one. its a distance track and its sounds like kiefer sutherland.

the phone rings and then the sample follows, "you are confused aren't you? frightened. thats all right i can help you. i am a doctor. now you must listen to me. you have lost your memory. there was an experiment, it went wrong. your memory was erased. there are people coming for you even as we speak. you must not let them find you. you must leave now. hello? are you there?"

always wondered where crack bong "my mind is going" sample came from as well.

anyone?

Rubber Chicken
Caspa have also sampled a lot from the original Willy Wonka film (big up Gene Wilder)
"we are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams" - yeah! what a sample, Aphex used it in SAW 1 and i think someone used it before him, such a great sample
way over used sample.
nothing worse than repetitive sampling.

The distance kiefer sutherland sample is from Dark City (pretty rad).
My personal fave ever is Mala sampling Countryman on Hunter. When I saw that scene I went gunfinger mental.

While pondering on this subject i am suprised no one has made a tune with the "Sparta" phrase...

Or even re-wording it...

like...

This is madness!

NO!

THIS - IS - DUBSTEP!

I use alot of film samples, from alien films (all of em at some point), way of the gun, underworld evolution, silent hill, battlestar galatica (tv series) cabin fever, the cell, final fantasy, ghost in the shell and innocence, batman, starwars, batman begins.. films are mint for sampling tiny little bits of backgorund atmospherics to give a tune a nice feel , and samples of dialogue bring a new dimension too :D

i was watching the movie Children of men (clive owen) last night with the gf, before he gets kidnapped about 25 mins in, im sure i hear anti war dub. I guess this could be the beginning of more mainstream movies with ds music.

Any idea where the sample in Tuning by Distance comes from? Sounds eerie as fuck...
Everytime i hear a decent movie sample from something i haven't seen i always get the urge to see it, no matter how crap it may be.
