also I'd like to say that the source for xrylex's post was a poet from 1806, not a musician mind you. I just wanted to discredit that heap of uselessness one more time before joining in the real discussion.

I think there isn't a big difference with root notes and things in synthesized music, however sympathetic harmonies can play a big part in how one arranges, produces, and hears music. For example my desk produces harmonies sympathetic to C, so I often prefer to wright in C, simply because the sub and low bass is more audible in my acoustic environment when a C, E, Eb, or G is played.
