i believe there is a lot more hidden energy that we dont perceive because it just simply wasn't useful for us to do so
in the same way that snakes perceive heat like vision
insects perceive chemical compounds/scents/pheromones as means of communication
i just believe that, im not a physicist, i cant back up these thoughts with anything solid
but i dont know where the idea of ghosts come into it
i do find it really strange how people who suffer sleep paralysis often 'dream' or 'hallucinate' the same the things as 100,000's of others

Maury Ballstein: What do we do when we fall off the horse?
Derek Zoolander: [thoughtfully looking up and mouthing the words silently] ... fall off the horse...
Maury Ballstein: [looking to supply finish] ... we... get back on!
Derek Zoolander: Sorry, Maury. I'm not a gymnast.

I dunno though don't doubt that there's not malevelont lifeforms in the universe I just think they're not advanced enough technologically to reach us.
I think that if aliens managed to get all the way to Earth, they would have no reason to be scared of us because they would be tremendously technologically advanced compared to us. Most alien inavsion books/movies/stories in which mankind somehow defeats scary alien armadas don't make sense. If you go to the bother of travelling light years to conquer a planet with no interstellar travel capacity, you'd bloody well conquer it. Not get wiped out by snot or some random airforce pilot.
Anyway, aliens will probably have motivations that bear no resemblance to what we can imagine.

people who say theyve seen ghosts are always like, really accepting of the fact they saw one. if i went downstairs for a glass of milk at night and there was someone sitting at my table that i dont know, and i could see through them, i would shit myself. what do you do?? wat do they do? whats the point??? do you ghost witnesses find it hard to sleep? i dont believe in ghosts but i do get freaked out about the dark...
also, orbs are gay.

Dunno if I believe in ghosts or not, but if they do exist my house must be haunted or something.
I once woke up in the middle of the night because a ruler wast thrown on my body. What makes it weird is that the ruler, before it hit me, was on a shelf on the other side of the room, freaked me out.
Aliens, I'm almost sure they exist. If they're not well developed and intelligent, there's probably some kind of bacteria.

I heard a bit of some show on Radio 4 recently with Brian Cox, where he talked about how one reason he isn't prepared to believe in ghosts is that they are essentially perpetual motion machines, which I thought was giving it more thought than I probably would in saying that. It's a good argument, I think.
Nothing about the idea of ghosts makes any sense to me. Where would they come from? what are they made of?
edit: I'll clarify that - unless you believe in a soul I suppose.

As an interesting thought, early in the Medieval period the guy who the Catholic Church appointed as the first head of their paranormal division (the one that conducts the exorcisms, no bullshit they actually have such a section and it's official) said that ghosts, demons, paranormal activity etc 'was just forces we do not yet understand'... he subsequently got denounced as a heretic and was replaced by someone more keen to carry the official line of 'it's agents of the Devil and we must fight them in the name of God'.
It seems to me that ghosts are such an misunderstood first and so I follow scientific lines of enquiry of transpersonal and parapsychology. They aren't about belief in fantastical bullshit, they're about investigating what hasn't been investigated already and become taken as a given in mainstream science - i.e. you can't say something's bullshit until it's been disproved. Think of mobile phones, even telecommunications using physical wires, not so long ago in history you'd be derided as a nutter for even considering the concept but now they're almost ubiquitous!
Transpersonal psychology in particular also requires knowledge of other scientific modes like physics and chemistry to account for phenomena and just recently there was a study that detailed the apparent effects of conscious perception altering the outcome of an experiment! The mind may work differently to how we think it does and humans' understanding of the universe changes all the time so it would probably be best to be pragmatic about how you believe the universe really works in case you ignore some important details...
I also think that aliens are a distinct possibility as even life on earth may have arrived from elsewhere, just as scientists are now considering sending capsules of organic life out as 'panspermia' so it could have arrived where we are now (apologies to any the aliens reading this, I mean Earth)

Aliens - definitely. I think they watch us on invisible CCTV and own our souls. Keep us here like a big Human, Big Brother-style zoo on planet Earth.
Ghosts - are the ones that don't make it to the virtual Alien hell to endure indescribable, endless torture and get stuck here. Poor bastards.
Etc - haven't seen one and therefore probably doesn't exist.

I don't see how it effects me either. But it's a thread about ghosts, and I posted my opinion on ghosts...

How can you be so absolutely sure were not living in the matrix?
