i can only work on it in bursts... my laptop is on the blink so my only production software is reason on my mums pc and im only at my mums a couple days a week

i have older bits though if all else fails

i have a track that was meant to be a collab with joedan that im happy to put up for observation

more than happy to do some artwork for this. my tunes arent quite up to par to be on the album though.

i just posted two new pieces in the artwork thread...but for anyone whos too lazy to go there

I'll set up a list of all the people who offered to help, and set a deadline so that we can seal the deal.

I'll also make a thread with all the artwork up so that all the ninjas can vote on the one they want.

Also, might be a decent idea to have 2 organizers. Preferably moderators. Reason being that not too long ago in the production forum, there was a competition, and the organizer vanished. I say moderators because you guys are usually on without fail.

anyone who wants to jump on board with me is fine as far as organizing goes.

i don't think there should be a limit of entries total, but definitely should only be one per member (for volume 1, anyway)

also there should be a little bit of quality control, anything spammy or attention whore-y might raise an eyebrow or two

what do the rest of you think?


where do you guys want this released? bandcamp or soundcloud? I like bandcamps layout much better, but that might just be me

alright guys, so i've been chatting with seckle and he has reminded me that there are a whole lot of legal issues in making an official SNH album, even if it's free.

working to sort it out, i'll keep you updated.

What sort of legal problem would there be is we don't mention DSF at all? It's not like terms "secret" or "ninja" are exclusive to DSF.

I'd love to contribute but I don't produce and can't do any art etc.

Guess I'll just have to wank.

yeah, i asked that, it's just that i'd like to organize it on this site using stickies and whatnot, so DSF would be involved in that regard.

i've asked if i can set up my own label and do a self release to further separation from the site.

For starters, Sample clearances. This is an international website with enormous traffic. You don't see the other big forums backing free albums for a reason.

Its just got to be done right. Who owns the publishing rights? For bandcamp/itunes etc, whose name will it be registered under? Etcetc

Could stick it on both. They Both have limits. On free accounts, soundcloud allows 2 hours, and 100 downloads of each track. Bandcamp offers 500 free downloads and then all downloaders have to pay.
I suggested this earlier, it may be good to have the album on a filesharing site like mediafire too. As a back up, incase people want it enough to take out 6 hundred downloads of it

that's the way the cookie crumbles, like it or not. I'm not interested in being involved in something that turns into a legal nightmare. as seckle mentioned to me, we'd be under international laws since this is a global site. if dubway says no, we'll have to take this elsewhere.

very good idea, thanks for that... didn't know bandcamp had free download limits.

if / when we get this cleared we'll start hashing out the details

I was under the impression that it was just gonna be organized on a private netlabel by private individuals that just all happen to visit DSF, which puts everything out of dubway's hands. I would be down for helping to organize it.

As far distribution, Bandcamp is definitely the way to go. It's got FLAC options and it just looks professional. A Soundcloud wouldn't hurt though.
