His name is William Bevan. He lives in south London. There's a picture of his face on his myspace.
Do you really believe this? It used to be that if you googled 'london burial' you got a link to a funeral home run by a guy named william bevin who wasnt anywhere near... that age. All that aside, he doesnt have to show you, the listener his name, which is why he supposedly 'unveiled' himself.

buuuut about the legal question...

At least none of them have attention spans to sit and go through his tunes to see if they got "jack'd"
How can you sue someone who doesn't exist.

if petitioned for the information, the retailers selling his tunes would have to turn over any contact info they had for the label, and it would ultimately fall on Kode9's hyperdub contracts whether or not he or burial took the legal burden...

Usually, when signing a tune, the label owner asks you for a list of samples you used that might get them sued, and this is the first opportunity for things to go wrong, the artist can fail to report sample sources. If thats the case, the label can claim ignorance and the burden would fall on the artist (if the label wanted to be dicks like that)

Once the labels management/representatives has this list, its up to them whether or not they pursue rights and royalty agreements, however if the artist has binding proof they delivered such a list, they can claim that they were under the assumption the label had pursued rights, and thus in this case, the label becomes more likely to get the hard end of the legal process, and remaining 'more anonymous' could ultimately prove less damaging to your rep after everythings run its course.

Burial albums are what happen when Kode9, Zomby, and Flylo collab btw, its pretty easy to tell that if you watch tracklists. ;-)

In the beginning of Kode9's book he thanks a number of people, including Will Bevan. I don't think he would thank Burial if Burial wouldn't exist ?

Flux knows of it, but there doesn't seem to be an issue with it from Flux's side. Just the community ripping hair out at the fact it happened.

Burial was an alumnus of south London's Elliott School named William Bevan[7] (another alumnus, Hot Chip's Joe Goddard, said in 2006 that Bevan was in the year above him).
This kinda stuff doesn't just happen imo.

I don't mean literally not exist. Will Bevan is a fake name. The myspace pic is fake too. After all these years there's no way nobody in all of London wouldn't recognize him. I truly believe that pic is of a deceased person he knew named Danny.

Can we not have every fucking thread diverted into google based Burial speculations and bullshit about him? I swear, some of you are mental about not being able to know EVERYthing about specific producers. Its about as close to stalking as you can call it. This zomby-kode9-burial thing is the biggest bolloxs of it all. FFS, its three different people, one label. Stop being fucking babies about it, and find something new to cry about..honestly.

I bet Mr. Burial is sitting behind his computer going, 'Ok, so, i wonder if i'm still anonymous and people are having some stupid shit fight over who i am...FUCKING BRILLIANT, SPOT ON KIDDIES!'

There's a picture of him at one of the earlier events with loads of other producers/DJs/etc. on Blackdown's blog. There probably ARE people in London that would recognise him, you just haven't spoke to them.
