http://www.pitt.edu/~jdnorton/teaching/ ... index.html this made a whole lot of sense to me. explains a lot of relativity in a simple way. can't recommend it enough!

the barman says "we don't serve faster than light neutrinos in here." a neutrino walks into a bar.
cracked me up. :4:

It's better than this thread. Time is complicated, yo.
to be honest i think before anyone in this thread gets to anything like that, they should invest in a copy of this:

I wish I had. My head hurts.
Haha i wasnt being facetious! Reading that Russell Stannard book when i was a kid really helped me get my head round the theory of relativity, really well explained without being too dumbed down.

Our best telescopes can see galaxies that are 12 billion years old.
The Universe is ~13.7 billion years old.

If we had a powerful enough telescope, would we be able to see the big bang?

If you had a telescope and sent it into space on a faster than light ship and turned it around and pointed it at the earth, would you be able to see the earth being formed?

and i think these faster than light neutrinos could certainly be true, all them little particles are well mental. Doesn't quantum physics and relativity famously not work together anyway?
