2. the easiest and sometimes most effective way of getting hugely wide bass is to use a sample delay. this will delay the bass either l/r signal in mile-seconds and your bass will be super wide.
is that like light years?

I don't think that the human ear can spot the difference. bass will remain narrow.

I think they are talking about bass as in basslines/midrange synths and not sub bass. Or they could be talking about the bass drum. I differentiate these by saying sub, bass, and kick.

sub is sub, midrange is bass. kick is kick. so you've got it right.

oh, and i agree with jaydot. still can't get my tunes to sound organic, too mechanical.

:corntard:

Bass is bass...midrange is midrange...

People just refer to the growly lead synths in a lot of dubstep as the 'bass' because it usually follows the same notes as the sub.

EDIT: Think of the same meaning as a bass guitar rather than frequency ranges. If you overdrive a bass it's still the bass section of the track even though the instrument is hitting frequencies in the mid-high range too.

i'm not arguing that mid-range = bass in a technical sense. i'm merely saying that if a producers says "bass" he's probably talking about the mid-range, and when he says sub, he's talking about the actual sine wave sub.

in session view i.e the vertical layout just double click an empty slot and it creates a clip. in the arrangement view (classic left to right sequencer style) highlight the space and press ctrl+shift+m.

not that i know of.

no worries, there's a desktop background with loads of keyboard shortcuts on there. i had that for a while and learnt most of them from there.

Is there one for mac? I couldn't find one. Pretty much the same but it would be nice to have a mac one.

Whoever it was that asked about a follow function in the arrange window, if you go to the top under the automation button, theres a pitcure of a guy walking. click on that. You can also press the tilde key (~) under your escape key.

Theres a couple of ways to achieve this.

1. Make sure your sub bass is separated from the rest of the bass (either frequency separate it, or have it on an actual separate synth/instrument for it)

2. the easiest and sometimes most effective way of getting hugely wide bass is to use a sample delay. this will delay the bass either l/r signal in mile-seconds and your bass will be super wide.

3. another way is to use chorus. Make sure its oscillating slowly and that its not churning the sound too much.

there are many many more ways, but these are my two most common.

EDIT:
Use Unison and Stereo De-tuning for the most classic wide bass sound
just saying: there are million ways to make it ''wider''.
using a layer to the sub. putting a reverb on the layer. a resonance (in any possible way).... there is no main key to it imho.

And if anyone has the same for logic 9m that would be Illl!!

After nearly 3 years of producing, I still don't ever have a clue what to write when I first sit down. I just tinker and let it evolve.

Is there such thing is retrigging when it comes to delays?

Why not bounce each note on a c-c scale with the delay on, load each recorded note to the samplers note. Now when you play a note the delay is sorta re-triggering

I had the sound and the perfect delay for it - just wondered if it was possible to retrigger instead of having to automation the feedback when I want the delay to trickle out further.

Bounce the wet delayed signal and do what you wish from there.
