There's my most recent stab at a reese. Kinda wanted to keep it simple so I could play around with the melody I had in mind.

My tunes typically have long intros so if you're impatient then I think the reese comes in around the two minute mark ;-)

one thing I found that's really good for Reese's and movement is to turn off retrigger on lfos and such for filters. the o Lu filter I I Lu retrigger is a lowpass but I manually automate it but still have problems with filtering IMO. but for making the Reese have different characteristics every time. click off the retrigger.

This is a wicked thread for those asking about Noisia / Culprate etc Reese sounds. some really good info to use as a basis for exploring your own sound design. I've got some stuff I wanna try out in the studio this weekend now!!!

Got inspired by this thread, so I sat down and tried to make a evil reese. Maybe too much distortion, but oh well :U:
First bit is unprocessed, second bit is processed with a loooong ass fx chain.
Soundcloud
Used 3xOsc btw. I can explain what I did if anyone is interested :)

anybody know how to make a reese like this? it sounds so beefed, while, at the same time, its all high end and trebly. any idea?

sine waves and fm can make great harmonic enriched basses.

I find that some sidechain compression on a nice reese can get it groovin' pretty good. ymmv

Here are a few reese~ish bass samples I made a few months ago when I still had time for making music. Hard to tell how I processed them... The only clue is that the 2nd number in the filename indicates how many times it was resampled.

OK, Here's how I made the reese I posted. If you havent heard it:
Soundcloud
Made a basic patch in 3xOsc, two saw waves detuned against each other. Second saw wave had som stereo phase offset. 3rd osc was the weird waveform to the right of the saw wave.
All oscillators are detuned against each other.
Added a Tom Notch Filter, just left it as it was, didnt tweak anything.
Then a Fruity Fast Dist, with Threshold set to 3-4 o'clock.
Then a WOW Filter, set to Band Reject(Notch). Automated the cutoff, picture below. Overdrive just under 30.
Soundgoodizer, 45%.
Ohmicide, this is really important. I'll post a pic of the settings below.
CamelCrusher, British clean preset.
Tom Notch Filter again, default patch.
Fruity Chorus, mess around with this. Wet/dry to 45%.
Sausage Fattener, Fattnes 25% and Color 29%. 7.5 db gain.
Fruity Parametric EQ2, took out all the low end + a notch filter at 1000hz.
WOW Filter, 50% dry/wet. Set to highpass 12 db, automation in the picture below.
Fruity Parametric EQ2, took out more low end and some at 200hz.
Fruity Parametric EQ2, same as above, just at 450hz instead of 200hz.
Sausage Fattener, fattness 31%, 0% on the rest.
Fruity Fast LP for some automation. (see picture below.)
Fruity Parametric EQ2, huge notch filter thing at 250hz.
Another Fruity Chorus, 40% dry/wet, mess with the settings.
Fruity Parametric EQ2, small notch filter thing at 250hz again.
sauasge fattener at 12 % fattness.
That is it :)

Ohmicide patch:

Automation:

NOTE: Automation is not exctly as in the clip heard, but whatevs

You can make it work kind of as a notch filter.

A good little trick if your using FL is the Hardcore plugin.....

Think its the latter version of fruity but it can help to add loads of
distortion and such and can be really effective if used correctly...

But beware it gets so addictive though...

Quality tutorial blink... I unfortunately don't have FL Studio but I'm gonna do my best to translate it into logic speak and see how it works once I get home from university today. Thanks for the explanation!
