I quite liked this one, not as much as the first one though. Thought Tea Leaf was really good in it, although didn't see his ending coming along like that.

Is anyone else desperate to see the girl's Wraith Babes video? :4:

I thought last night's was absolutely first class, worked both as a satire and a standalone piece of science fiction (almost a 21st-century update of 1984). The lead actor was brilliant, and the direction was top-notch too.

Someone before said it was slow - I thought the pacing was pretty refreshing, it actually told a proper story and managed to give a huge amount of detail about this (near?) future world without massive stretches of expositional dialogue.

So yeah, I liked it. A lot.

Haven't seen the 1st episode yet and only caught the last 20 minutes of episode 2 but picked up on a couple of things

Blatant "Network" homage is blatant
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_%28film%29
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074958/
Brooker even did a section on "Network" in an episode of screenwipe so i very much doubt the similarities are coincidental

also I wouldnt be surprised if Brooker was writing it as a parody of himself, the misanthropic, miserable outsider who hates tv/pop culture yet is a part of it.

Didn't see that ending coming? Seriously? It was really poor all round, I was trying to enjoy it but the script was crap, the idea was crap, the "message" was pointless and all the silly computer graphicy things were annoying. Will still watch the 3rd as he might well come up with a gem.

I was moer captivated by the second than the first, but the first was better as a "dark dramady" (fucking kill me now for using that term). Wasn't really much to laugh about in the second one, just felt sorry for bing all the way through. Liked the nods to Kinect though, and the fact that they cast the real life interpretation of Dora the Explorer

the script was very dry i agree but i think that was the point mate. In this future we're all meant to be like drones or something with little emotion and we all just drudge along with what we are given to entertain us. you reckon the OUTBURST on stage at the end was crap too yeah? if thats the case i wouldn't bother with the third episode. it doesn't sound like your feeling this black mirror mate

It just wasn't making much of a point. Yeah, Charlie Brooker thinks the celebrity/media world is full of brain-dead, vacuous kunts. We knew that. I think the first episode- though flawed- showed something that was scary because wasn't actually that unfeasible. This episode was too ridiculous, but the actual content couldn't make up for it. I thought the outburst was a bit lame because you know the judge's are going to like it, how many times has that scene been done in various forms.

i thought it was good. kinda disappointed that he kinda just became part of it in the end but it's a pretty depressing view of things. also what i was wondering throughout is what was the rest of the world like? is it like completely fucked and that's why there's no windows/outside or whatever? thought they might explain why they're in this weird prison kind of thing but oh well...

Only had an hour I guess... I would presume the 'outside world' is a mixture of mainly fucked, with the decent bits being occupied by the big merit holders.

i nicked this from another forum but is good. The protagonist getting success inside the system as a result of holding a blade to his neck and pointing out all its flaws.. Brooker is alluding to himself.

just watched the second episode, im a huge fan of charlie brooker and i was quite impressed. yeah who ever said it was 1984 was right. not so much totalitarian but still a great reflection on the modern day hysteria of mass consumption and cult of stardom. Seeing those guys living in their rooms hooked up to the internet, going under monikers, with lack of real human contact and genuine human relationship made me feel like shit sitting at home playing games and trolling the internet all day lol

I got the Brooker self-parody thing, I do hope it was a homage to 1984 and Network rather than just thieving, because it was essentially an updated/combined version of the two.

Anyone see the credits? Written by Brooker and 'Kanak' Huq...

Reminded me of 'The Island' with some similar themes from the film 'Brazil'
