Yeah Excision does maintain that dark feel in many of his tunes, so i can see why you like him. Respect to him, his music just isn't my cup of tea. Feels a little too unrefined for me.
But big ups for looking deeper into the genre, and I'm glad you like it!

This thread went much better than i expected it to... respect to you gravatrax for actually digging deeper and finding the legit stuff, most people just hear one skrillex tune and base their entire judgement of the genre on it

Its all become so contrived and obvious - 12 year olds are reading the forum for 5 minutes and realising that all they have to do is say they have stopped listening to Excis/Dats/skrill etc. and pretend to like DMZ/Burial/Skream etc. and then start a new thread each day wanking off and showing off how much they love real dubstep. They then hate on other 12 year olds who haven't researched the forum for 5 minutes.

I'm also new to this forum and getting into dubstep, the real dubstep that is with the actual sub bass, I despise brostep and all its variants. So far I've really enjoyed Skream, Zomby, Phaeleh, and Kode9, among others, do you guys have any recommendations for this sort of taste? Also, I tend to like dubstep that has plenty of sub bass but that also has many layers of melody on top, although sometimes beat and bass (not dnb) works too if it's used really well (Skream's Lightning for example).

Give Joker and Ginz a listen, they've got melodies galore and some serious sub. Also Distance, as mentioned many times in this thread, Phaeleh, Goth-Trad, Kromestar, Quest...
