Coki's tunes now are still amazing. His drums are still some of the grooviest in dubstep and his synth work on his basslines is mad inventive.
It's got such a great atmosphere to it too and no-one can sound like him. Honestly I thought his last EP was solid the whole way through and really if I'm gonna choose least favourites out of his released tunes it's the ones that just sound like dub tunes a bit as they for me aren't as creative. Coki's tunes are both crazy and inventive and will make me go fucking nuts on the dancefloor. All the people hating on his sound are usually pretentious nobs who only like tunes that sound like clinical Kryptical Minds knock offs or hipsters who think a generic two step beat on overly clean drums with some chords played on square waves with some sidechaining to the drums and bits of vocals being pitched up and down is somehow "future"
That being said there's a couple tunes that are on his soundcloud that must be jokes or something or actually he has made a couple shoddy tunes.

I mean that track isn't bad perse, but imo it just sounds a bit cheesey and simplistic. I'm not trying to say I could do any better, but the lead is really cheesey and it sounds pretty uninspiring overall.
and in regards to the Coki "haters", it's possible to not like somebody's style or not like certain tracks but still have respect for the overall production and or producer. Honestly there's a lot of Coki stuff that I just don't particularly care for, but that doesn't mean I don't have respect for him or his talent... Does this make me a "h8tr"?

You are aware of Nandos right? Needs to see a release.
@wolf yeah that's kind of what I meant when I said in another thread it feels like there's a bunch of people on here who seem to want all DMZ releases to have been Mala. The reason the DMZ boys are heralded as amongst the best of dubstep is because of the variety they offer with each of them bringing something different to the table. And besides if they were all going to be from person should clearly be Loefah

Yeah, I feel that Urban Ethics was light years ahead of Dont' get it twisted. I also find the amount of discontent with Urban Ethics quite surprising, I actually quite liked that release. However the bad pressings of Don't Get It Twisted (of course one of which I received) really left me with a bad taste. I realize it's not entirely Coki's fault that some pressings were faulty, but it's just kind of annoying and seems slightly careless, even though that may not be at all be the case --seeing as I'm not completely aware of what role he plays in the actual pressing of the record--.
Also, as a few have mentioned, I do completely love his percussion sounds and arrangements.

How is the bad press in any way Coki's fault?
Mines fine, the test presses were probably fine in that case. Is he supposed to check every copy? I'm confused.

maybe coki has remained
and its the change in times/sound/scene that has influenced our judgements? (just a thought)
coki sounds like coki to me
whether its in one direction or another, you know who it is
waaaaay over analyzing we are
its hard to tell if someone is half assing music in dubstep, because its really not that musical. especially if they have really legit patches and drums they use all the time.
not hating, just saying. from a musicians perspective

This.
But in all honesty, I doubt they have done anything together since like 07. Why not do it again? I'm really hoping this is on the new Benga album...
And I kinda think everyone is trippin about DGIT being a bad pressing. There were pictures of Coki using the plates in a show. Just can't stand people knocking one of the few artists in dubstep to craft a unique sound.

unique sound? you talking about that painful sounding metallic synth he uses over and over again.
Nothing but mad love for coki but those recent tearout tunes are not for me.

Celestial dub is kind of generic if I'm honest and sorry but his bass sound is unique in his tearout stuff and his drums too. You know when something is Coki and no-one else can remotely touch it. Just cause his music sounds similair to himself doesn't mean it's not unique

Exactly. I would go so far as to say Kromestar was emulating his sound of the moment on Medi-01. Then you can see the slew of producers that took the Spongebob sound and ran with it, but no one has the same drums and swing as Coki.

You certainly don't have to be a hater, but you're definitely wrong about this guy. It's THE perse.

it makes more sense to hate coki than Skrillex
because coki makes the better music!

how people can even mention skrillex in the same sentence is laughable imo.
I see coki's productions as an alternative to 'bro step'. it introduces the idea of sub-bass and doesn't neccesarily deter you from listening to it cos of the madness that unfolds.
then how can you forget the tracks like mood red eye, burnin', officer, all of a sudden? bass for your chest.
proper dmz vibes. c

people on FB are sucking massive dick right now
It's funny how 90% of the people there go on and call this a waste thread and assume it's all pro-brostrep/pro-skrillex talk. Whilst there are actually some valid arguments in here pro/contra some of coki's stuff. Thread title is a bit unfortunate.
I stand by what I say though.
/off tho the attick to rinse "The End" into "Shattered".

I cant believe what im reading, there are so many eggs about its untrue. If you dont like a tune or a number of tunes from any artist... don't listen to em, don't go and write posts on forums about em its pathetic...what coki has done for the scene is unreal and 90% wouldn't have heard the word dubstep if it wasnt for him, he goes in his studio and makes music he likes, hes not gonna please everyone.
