it is very interesting. altho mostly, to me, it is an irritating reminder of how much of a herd mentality most people are stuck in.

also, the aesthetics and elements that are used to define dubstep in the mainstream tend to be common to many genres. a lot of it has been in the public consciousness since DNB, i think. I suspect this will be more of a look for EDM in general than for interesting-rhythm and sub-bass.

that said, the article makes it sound like it could be very good. i'm excited.

Oh i'm not watching that, i got my mate to tell me when it was HT so i could see how embarrasing this "dubstep" is. The game is terrible, i lasted 10 minutes.

Madonna to out do Janet Jackson and get her snatch out?

There may never be another superbowl where the dude scoring the winning touchdown, really didn't want to at the time

i was working a ritzy high-class corporate superbowl party and the dj spun "dubstep"

i can't believe the way a tempo + halftime which came out of the darkest, coolest underground scene can change the entire face of commercial music like this.

it's pretty amazing... i mean it doesn't seem as though 160 breaks were able to do that
bravo dubstep

I watched the Super Bowl, didn't hear the piece in reference, but y'all should be thrilled about this.

It means some major attention is about to come your way. I mean, yeah, a lot of newbies think nutty rave-type brostep is what dubstep is, but a lot of people will do their own research and digging and that will translate to more U.K. dubstep artist digital downloads, now that the genre is a global phenomenon that has a commonly accepted definition. Regardless of your opinion, this performance single-handedly makes dubstep more legit than any other promotional endeavor thusfar. But I'm only talking in terms of worldwide audience participation.

Madonna. Though it was really more like thirty seconds of half time drums in a pop tune, hardly dubstep by any definition of the word. I doubt anyone who wasn't already aware of the genre is going to be converted; everyone is too busy bitching about MIA giving people the finger.

It was a staged act to create some promotional buzz for her new single. This is confirmed by the fact that there's a billion news articles about the "incident" by this point, which nobody actually saw, and lasted for less than a second. I didn't even realize MIA was in the halftime show, and I watched the whole thing.

it was played right at the beginning, and then in some of the commercial breaks.
