Hip Hop was the first genre of music I really got into, until I discovered Drum & Bass in about 1992/1993. Recently I have been digging back into the crates again though, cant forget the oldies

extra cee wrote:So good to see so many like minded people on here that grew up listening to the same shit as me. I got into it after seeing the Buffalo Gals video on top of the pops in about 83 and then when i saw Beat Street that was it, i was hooked for good. It is a shame that there isnt much to cheer about today which is why i tend to buy Dubstep rather than the newer HipHop. I am DJ'ing at a festival in Suffolk on the 21st July called Eastern Haze my set will be an hour of UK HipHop from 87 - 91 pulling out all them old gems from M.C. Mell'o' to Hijack to Gunshot etc. Huntkilbury Finn is playing aswell as a lot of the new school MC's like Stig, Syntax, Yungun etc. I'm also gonna try and sneak a little Dubstep set somewhere if i can.
Check it out at www.easternhaze.com
Should be a laugh
EZ,

I was part of UK hip hop crew Killa Instinct. We were around at the same time as Hijack, Gunshot, London Posse... etc. We're gonna be at the Eastern Haze festi too. Probably playing in the same tent as you..

yes yes i was a hiphopper since day. when it comes to producers its all about pete rock, premo, 9th wonder, jay dilla and lord finesse, definetly lord finesse for the original dark style on his album the awakening... thats definetly one of my favourite albums. anyway, no one is touchin them!
