Sound design as a whole is too much for 1 thread honestly. But if it's the only way, it's still better than right now.
Except, active discussion on like 5 or 6 specific topic about sound design. I didn't know we we're supposed to bump those old ass threads.ehbrums1 wrote:So basically the production bibleKillamike49 wrote:Instead of a sub-forum then, maybe a few different thread links in the op for specific sound design questions. SUBFORUM SUBFORUM SUBFORUM SOLVE ALL PROBLEMSS
Maybe as a community we should be aggressive in correcting people when they're wrong or encouraging bad practices. I know I would much rather be told in public than I'm horribly incorrect as opposed to continually being blissfully unaware of my own ignorance. Isn't that the point? Aren't we all here to learn something new from a fresh perspective?hutyluty wrote:lol, everytime theres a suggestion thread on here it takes about a page before

I personally think you should ban anyone who gives wrong advice, which is the true problem here
If you don't know what you're on about, either add that disclaimer in your post or don't bother answering.

Haha, I meant aggressive in the proactively correcting sense. Not aggressive in the pre-pubescent ChadDub rage sense. I'm sure we'll all capable of telling someone they're wrong without making them look like a complete moron. Besides, we all started somewhere...wub wrote: The last thing this place needs is people being MORE aggressive![]()
A lot of the bad advice (or advice I don't generally perceive to be accurate) comes from frequent users who kick the fuck off at anyone who questions them.

Dude, my thoughts EXACTLY!nowaysj wrote:
Here is the honest nwj perspective: sound design is close to half of production, this forum should be filled with sound design questions and conversations. I'd like to choose which conversations I participate in. If there is a cat blender thread, I will not participate, if there is a syncro pad thread, I'll participate, my choice. But if there is one thread that is filled with cat blenders and the occasional interesting question, I'm just not going to participate. I know many people feel the same way.
I don't feel the forum is "clogged" up with sound design questions... I mean perhaps all of the 10 daily cat blender threads should be locked and redirected, but legit questions about sound design should be left, unmolested. There aren't that many new threads around here, and conversation within threads is now feeble. I don't know, reducing the number of threads around here, I don't think is the option dubway is looking for.

a sub forum is going to polarize the production forum(s) even moreImmerse wrote:you completely changed my mindnowaysj wrote:In audio, maybe even more so than everything else in life, there are a lot of different ways to do the same thing. i agree the base of the problem is laziness, if people don't want to follow the rules then they shouldn't get their own sub forumnowaysj wrote:Organization is not the problem here, imo.
