seriously, that has to be the dumbest suggestion ive seen on DSF to date....

seeing as the house forum is one of the best forums on DSF
alright then, just put other music on the main board.

Only forum Helix posts in nowadays, so it must be quite a scary place too :cornlol:

the house forum is literally the best place on this site

and i think that it would be nice to have a techno thread, a hip hop thread, etc in snh is a good idea

That basically equates to talking to yourself.

Not too fussed but if they get moved anywhere then put them all in general

not house though, I don't want to incur Nev's wrath. ;-)

I think the main issue is that hardly anyone checks the other music or hip hop forums. Like, I love hip hop but I never bother posting about it cos no one replied when I did in the past. Put it all under 'other music' on the front page like it used to be and a lot more people will use it

i guess. maybe its just easier to make a thread moaning about it instead of participating... this is truly something that you, the end user, have complete control of. hiding out is ok, but you have to admit that you might miss a lot of stuff only being in one forum on here

especially when it comes to the house forum :w:

I think it creates unnecessary mess merging other music into SNH. People just need to make an effort and post in there. I do occasionally, granted would be cooler to get more feedback, but at least this way, unnecessary junk and ranting is being kept to a minimum (much like on the house forum).

I'm for the current formula, or else make Other Music a separate category on the main forum. Other music should still be about music, and not random shit I could do without like most of SNH, no offence (I know it's fun and a laugh and all).

What about having 'Other music' on the main index and having subcategorys, 'DnB', 'Hiphop' ect.. including a 'General chat' forum for people to speak shit.

Too many subforums can make it worse though. I used to post on one that had like 8 main forums each with 5+ subforums in there, and a couple of those had subforums too. It makes it harder to decide where to post a thread/question etc and not many people dig that deep.

Merging seems to be winning, but will that mean the techno and dub thread for example will eventually be 200 pages? It's not really reasonable to read back more than 10 pages or so for most people, so what if they were locked after x amount of pages and a new one created with links to the previous ones in the first post. Too much trouble?

It was like that before, and it was even less active iirc

I suppose it could work in SNH since they would get more exposure, hence more activity, I get that.
But on the other hand, indeed going through 50 pages of techno or grime or hiphop in one thread just doesn't work either. There is the search function of course....

If there is way to implement it in SNH and still improve practicality and readability, I'm all for it. 50% of the stuff I listen to isn't dubstep or related and it is cool to be able to chat a bit about that with people in the know, without having to go to other specific boards (though for one or two specific artists, I am on another board).
