So, what is the deal then? Is there any point in me buying this? I just want to spend a few hours a week clicking on some kind of monsters with one hand, with a spliff/some biscuits in the other. Am I going to realise it was a massive waste of 40 odd quid?
How long do we reckon itll be before its say £25 or so in tesco or something? And I guess will it ever be cracked for that matter? I just am not going to spend 40 quid on something that from most accounts ive read will be some degree of disappointment...
Think I might just dust off the old diablo 2!

It being 25 quid in the forseeable future is a joke, blizzard will milk this with a full price point for more than a year, trust. When i played the open beta for like 12 hours it seemed quite good, just a bit more simplistic. Just go over to one of your friends' houses and play it for 30 minutes, and make the call for yourself.

Really? It seemed kind of limited in the beta, but i wasn't sure if that was because of the beta, or more shit getting unlocked at a higher level or w/e. I'm sure blizzard won't disappoint me with this.

Diablo 2 is good stuff, and you can go pick up a copy with the expansion and a strategy guide for $20.

I still don't entirely get Diablo if I am honest, it s a single player RPG, an MMO, just a coop game?

It's a hack and slash game that you can totally solo, but you can party up with up to 7 other people (in 2, i dunno what it's like in 3 yet) and the game gets harder while also dropping better loot. It's kinda like wow, but you're way op compared to the mobs, and the only ones who really stand a chance against you're almighty onslaught are the bosses, who kill the fuck out of you. Think borderlands if you've ever played that. Gearbox pretty much took the game mechanic, applied it to the weapon generation, made it a fps and called it original. Not knocking borderlands btw, i love the shit out of that game, but it's the same thing essentially.

Nah no one I know will have heard of diablo let alone own it. Its the whole character development side of it that really hooked me in to the first 2 anyway, hard to get a grasp on what thats like without just buying it really...but yeah, Ive never spent anywhere near that amount of money on a game! Ridiculous amount of money (but I do understand it based on the whole online thing with no subscription)
In fact, how does that all work? Anyone care to enlighten me? How does it work online? Ive only ever played diablo in a single player style. Is it similar to mmorpgs where everyone is online at the same time in one big world? Or is it just a case of inviting people to play with you in a co op style? Cant really picture it to be honest!

in diablo 2 you would create a game. by that i mean you would type in a name for the game, for example "act 2" or "i need hlp wit diablo plzzzz", then choose some other parameters (dont really remember them tbh) then your character would enter the game. other players can see your game (and many others) in a list in the lobby. they can then choose to enter your game. if they do, you will see a message saying "so-and-so has entered your world" or whatever, and their character would appear somewhere in your game, then you could party up and go fight some shit. in diablo 2, 8 players max could be in one game, in diablo 3 its 4 players max.

oh...what? That sounds really weak. Whats the point? You just spend a few hours with some random people online fighting harder stuff? Thats alright then, easy decision really, that aint my cup of tea!
I assumed it would be something along the lines of there being loads of different servers full of everyone playing at the same time and you would go round killing shit when it spawns and get some xp. Teaming up with people to do really hard quests or something. I really dont feel like I understand the system here with diablo 3? Like, so its a game with one long single player-esque story line, that you can just occasionaly team up with people to do? One hugenormous meh
