Forgot to mention this, if you're looking to recreate a bass from a tutorial on Youtube for example, don't just make the patch and use it. Go through each thing that makes up the patch, and try to understand what it does to the sound - that way if you want a certain element (e.g. "oh this wavetable and position adds grit to sound") you can add it into your original patches and make new sounds.

This! I remember when I first started making wobbles in reason and copying te tutorial exactly, not really knowing what I was doing. It was only till I worked out what I was actually doing that I could come up with more interesting sounds.

Thread title is misleading, this is just another "how do I make this sound?" thread.

Hardly, I also ask for starter tips, things I should do, and that sound is just where I would like to begin. The initial thread is totally related to the thread title.

Also another thread covers what you can do to make money in the industry, from giging, to writing jingles, to doing soundtrack work for films and short movies, from learning and teaching music throrey, to using sites like PPH to get some small part time work editing or adding sound to films.

None of these will get you as far as learning how to suck one tho, my puffer techniqiue may not have gotten my track signed but i got £20 in my backpocket from a record exec so i guess thats like making a living off the music industry.

If I wanted to release music, do I have to have a specific age? Let's say I wanted to get signed, I send a demo or become notified, and I tell them my age and I say 13 and they say "you're too young", what do I do then? Wait till i'm 18/21 and release? I don't want to miss an opportunity to DJ and produce alongside big names and small names as I become older.
I'm confused. Should I wait? I feel like i'm in my prime to somehow release my music with both my parents' permission.

I have never been asked my age for a release. It shouldn't matter just send tunes. The only thing that could be tricky is actually getting the payments if you aren't old enough for PayPal / bank account but in sure there are ways round it.

If the tune is good, the label probably won't care. The problem is you technically can't sign into legal agreements at that age. Contracts etc. You'd need some type of third party most likely. A guardian/power of attorney type thing etc. As for playing out, well I'd be surprised if they would let someone that young play as most of the nights are held in pubs and such with alcohol. That would be risky for the venue. Depends though.

You can't delete posts. You can ask a mod to lock it and possibly send it to the bin, but no guarantees and certainly don't bother mods about it.

12 is probably too young, but 13 is ok.

Getting on a label wouldnt seem that hard at that age if you're good at what you do, I think the main concern would be playing live, Not many places will have a 13 year old on the decks, Especially with licensing laws and such

age doesn't matter but IMO if you're 13 you shouldn't be spending your nights DJing basement clubs or chasing around promoters with a baseball bat.

besides if you're good at 13 you may as well wait and see how good you get.
