the death penalty is the same as censorship, you cant censor idea's out of existence, but you can set examples

im not saying pamper the guy and throw state money at him and set him up a new life somewhere

im saying that humans deserve to be treated a certain way, no matter who or what they are, because only by acting like this can we distance our actions from those performed by the people who need waking up

this whole argument is about how wrong it is of him to have killed so many people, why? because its a belief held by civilised people that humans have rights to life, to not be killed, and it is protecting this right at all costs which saves the idea.

as i said before, you kill the IDEA behind what he did by rehabilitating him and he and all his kind LOSE. you kill the people there'll be numerous others in their place

you dont build your house on an ants nest and spen the next 40 years killing ant after ant after ant... you build your house away from the ants nest and never worry about them.

I agree with Noam but it feels kinda weird to set Breivik free. Imagine what would happen if they let him go... I can't even imagine how furious the Norwegians would be.
I'm kinda curious if they are gonna keep adding 5years or if they'll eventually dare to try and rehabilitate him.

American history x was a good film, well acted and everything but im pretty sure the major criticism of it has always been how unrealistic the main character's transformation is.

the actual point is that there are reasons behind why certain people take those sorts of decisions, that people have motivating factors behind everything

some people are beyond rehabilitation but it doesn't mean all are.

and for that reason you dont just kill everyone who breaks the morality-mould.

you nmake it so they cant harm anyone else and try and reach them, at the very least you learn why...

I don't see where I brought up anything about ego. I just think that it's crap to talk about an awful murderer's rights,
when there's innocent people in pain because of the lack of these rights every day.

I don't need revenge. But I don't see why he deserves
a second chance in society, when he's completely sane and very enthusiastic about murdering innocent kids.
I've been close to people who help criminals rehabilitate all my life and I don't think I'll be having a nice cup of
tea with Breivik in 20 years.
