The easy & fun way: buy an old synth (Roland Junos are esp. good for this sound) and record it into a tape deck then from there into your DAW. Don't use too many effects once you get it onto a DAW track, just EQ a bit maybe.

btw, didn't listen to that track...just a suggestion for not robot sounds...higher pitched triangles can be great too...depending on what you are going for.

Alright guys! New to the forum, been reading up for a while now and thought I'd make a post!
Really started getting into dubstep when I started listening to artists from the Monsters crew, and after a year they inspired me to start producing. I'm still finding my sound, and learning all the time, but I think I'd quite like to make my tracks hit a bit harder, so I was wondering what your guys thoughts were on synths like this: Soundcloud
Any other tips to make my tracks sound something like this would be greatly appreciated! And thanks for your time!

That's great! - got any advice?
If you don't no worries, I'm sure I'll eventually work it out. But if anyone else has some, I used the custom google search a fair few times, but I have only been able to come up with this (the only one with a vague hint): http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.p ... &start=140
That was that I should look into formant filters to make 'woi' sounds. Further searches into 'woi' synth production haven't worked, and I've used the formant setting on massive a few times and it doesn't sound in the slightest like any of the sounds I would like. I've also tried layering sounds but i can't seem to get the right starting blocks! I am aware that most of the artists I listen to use Reason, but I sort of figured something similarish might be possible in Massive!
Cheers anyway!

Hai there.
Actually i have to know how to do a special sound which is included in the drum pattern. it sounds like a wooden stock somebody swings.
at 5 seconds for example.
there is also a special snare roll when the wobble begins.
My problem is, that i dont know how to do some effects, sounds, styles, drums etc.

I believe you may be going for something like this (?):
It's usually supersaws with an incredible square type lead over top. For the 'bipolar sound', I don't think you can achieve that through a synth, it's more the chord progression and the melody; that's what brings feeling into your music.

Hi guys, demsoun here!
Just wondering if anyone knows what the sound listed below is made up of? Obviously theres more than one pitch in there but it still sounds quite thick! Any ideas for me to play around with?
Thanks!
Sound at 1:07-1:08
Cheers guys!
Re: How do you get that ambient emotional synth sound?
You mean the swoosh leading into the snare?
Make a reverb tail of a clap or something, reverse and timestretch to taste.
The snare roll is actually the hihats. Make triplet hihat patterns with different velocities on some of the hits.

Yeah that's a great example of the kind of music I'm looking to make
@Glottis5: That's a bit out of my budget hehe

I've been trying to get something similar to what Datsik used in his U don't like me remix. I use FM8 and Massive. Anyone have an idea on how to get this sound?
The sound I'm talking about starts at the beginning of the song.

I've been trying to get this sound for about a week now. Seems like it's more about eqing each saw wave. Still nothing as moving as Seven lions or Tritonal similarity.
