So a bunch of new names.

Converge: I would be tempted to go see them. Last time I saw them perform was in 2007 in support of No Heroes album, so yeah, it's been a while. I still think the period from 2000-2004 was the best time to see them. But, I'm sure it will be good fun and energy live still today.

Pelican Another band I haven't seen live in ages. Among friends we like to call them Pelican't. They never reached sort of the top teer of post-metal (Isis) clones. Though I have to say anything up to 2005 was enjoyable for me (and Australasia is an album I still revisit often). With Isis no longer performing, I suppose this band is one of them 'next best things'. Not bad, but they're on their way down for sure: I have never even bothered with their last 2009 album after the failure that was City of Echoes. Last time I saw them must have been 2009.

Torche: always good fun: pop stoner metal. Missed them in 2010 on dour (believe they cancelled last minute?). So good chance for a re-match.

Skindred: good fun usually.

The other names I couldn't care less about.

Converge yeah used to be good way back, not so much a fan now though,

Torche I would love to see, they strike me as being the sort of band that would be really fun live

skinred is lame doe.

Converge is still every bit as good as they used to be, I just sortof outgrew. Like, I LOVE them, but I can't listen to them anymore. Except for the occasional spin of Jane Doe/You Fail Me and the old shit.

Oddly, 'No Heroes' is my favorite record of theirs haha.

I was unable to stand still this morning. Karenn & Digital Mystikz is just what I wanted for Dour 2013. Karenn live is probably the most intense thing going on at the moment.
Simian Mobile Disco is a nice addition, too. Saw them last week and they were very, very good. Much less poppy than when I saw them at Dour 2010 - some things they play now are nearly straight techno.
But Karenn, :h: :h: :h: :h:
Now we need Autechre and Shackleton

Kind of meh'ish and typical names for them. They used to have some real wildin' out shit like Scorn, for a major festival anyway.

I agree, very disappointed with today's electronic names...but the good thing is still around 150 more chances. Too safe and predictable this lot.
A lot of the names so far have been in the "well if there's absolutely nothing else on, I suppose I could go watch that/them and still have some fun" category, but the real good shit I'm still waiting for. Needs more live acts in electronic music and more dirty stuff in instrumental.

Dour's best names usually get announced pretty late. I think they wanna build hype around the more 'mainstream' fans first to sell tickets and reveal the good shit for the heads when ticket sales are steady.

they killed it today
also you shouldn't put simian mobile disco in less interesting electronic things - i saw them last months and they were nearly techno. they're always evolving and they're really good these days

sorry did make that list up from personal experience and I haven't seen SMD since 2010 at Pukkelpop I believe.

Yeah they nailed a lot of good things today. Dubstep is good (quality over quantity I think that line-up will be final). They got 50 Weapons with Shed especially being high on my to see list. They've got KARENN, Dusky, JETS,...plenty of good stuff to see at the moment.

I do think drum & bass is really going in decline at dour year after year. At least they had SOME dark shit left on the line-up the past two years. Black Sun Empire will probably play on the cannibal stage with the hardcore d&b and core there after. So basically, Thursday's d&b is just sooo standard, though I might just go see Roni Size for old times sake.

Could still do with a couple of insane live acts though. Like Actress last year, something drugged out and live. I really need something like that and then I'll be a happy camper.

i'm not sure d&b is declining... i thought the last few years d&b line up was really abysmal, but they've got a couple of good names this year... rockwell, calyx & teebee. last year i only enjoyed s.p.y.
definitely agree about the need to have something that's just out there ala actress. actress was my fav show last year actually :)

also massive cornlols at the people saying on facebook they're disappointed at today's announcement on facebook. wtf?
